Although it's talking about Texas and the USA, it's so funny how similar a lot of this sounds.

carbon is not a polutant it's a natural occuring element. The whole thing about climate change is to scare people to do something.

        Poor Macedonians?

Want to get ripped off - go see a Macedonian - maybe that's why the diaspora are not rushing back home to invest and live in RoM.

Skopje more expensive than London, Moscow

        Thursday, 22 December 2011
Household appliances, clothing, footwear and many other products are cheaper in London, Moscow and Athens than in Skopje! Although hard to believe, since Macedonian standard and purchasing power of citizens is lower, our search for various offers on websites and looking at world-famous brands showed perhaps an expected conclusion - Macedonians pay the highest prices for the same products in comparison with neighbors and citizens of European countries.

For example, television brand "Sony", ready for viewing in 3D, with a 117 cm screen size, Macedonians paid 1,720 euros, while it is 1,666 euros for the Croats and in Serbia cost 1,500 euros. The Bulgarians in Sofia paid 950 euros for the same TV, almost half of what Macedonians pay.

The same television brand in European countries can be found on an average for 1,150 euros.

Another example is for a new model of child car seat ("Kiko" brand) in Macedonia is 178 euros, while the Brits and other European countries pay between 120-150 euros.

Set of kitchen cutlery from three pieces of Italian brand "Guzzini" in Macedonia cost 31 euro, while Guzzini's website sells them for 19.5 euros.

"Timberland" shoes in Skopje are selling between 7,000 and 11,000 denars ($140-$200), while simple visit to Timberland's website will see the same shoes ranging from $70 to $75 dollars.

If I read that correctly, these are website deals. Which are no doubt being run by opportunistic Geeks trying their luck. I'm sure the prices on the street are much more competitive.

You are right that it is ambiguous about are they comparing 'shop' prices in Macedonia Vs 'Internet' prices elsewhere or 'Internet' prices in and out of RoM, and would 'shop' prices in RoM be more comparable to 'shop' prices elsewhere, but Harvey Norman have been whinging about internet site as they are cheaper, hence I doubt it would be 'internet Geeks' "trying their luck" to score higher prices than "streat prices".

And the truth comes out - even though it has been know in other circles for about 10 years (NB. Still Not known to channel X viewers).

Monsanto's GMO Corn Linked To Organ Failure, Study Reveals

In a study released by the International Journal of Biological Sciences,

International peer-reviewed journal publishes multidisciplinary research papers in general biology, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology and related areas.

analyzing the effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health, researchers found that agricultural giant Monsanto's GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats.

According to the study, which was summarized by Rady Ananda at Food Freedom, "Three varieties of Monsanto's GM corn - Mon 863, insecticide-producing Mon 810, and Roundup® herbicide-absorbing NK 603 - were approved for consumption by US, European and several other national food safety authorities."

Monsanto gathered its own crude statistical data after conducting a 90-day study, even though chronic problems can rarely be found after 90 days, and concluded that the corn was safe for consumption. The stamp of approval may have been premature, however.

In the conclusion of the IJBS study, researchers wrote:

"Effects were mostly concentrated in kidney and liver function, the two major diet detoxification organs, but in detail differed with each GM type. In addition, some effects on heart, adrenal, spleen and blood cells were also frequently noted. As there normally exists sex differences in liver and kidney metabolism, the highly statistically significant disturbances in the function of these organs, seen between male and female rats, cannot be dismissed as biologically insignificant as has been proposed by others. We therefore conclude that our data strongly suggests that these GM maize varieties induce a state of hepatorenal toxicity....These substances have never before been an integral part of the human or animal diet and therefore their health consequences for those who consume them, especially over long time periods are currently unknown."

Monsanto has immediately responded to the study, stating that the research is "based on faulty analytical methods and reasoning and do not call into question the safety findings for these products."

The IJBS study's author Gilles-Eric Séralini responded to the Monsanto statement on the blog, Food Freedom, "Our study contradicts Monsanto conclusions because Monsanto systematically neglects significant health effects in mammals that are different in males and females eating GMOs, or not proportional to the dose. This is a very serious mistake, dramatic for public health. This is the major conclusion revealed by our work, the only careful reanalysis of Monsanto crude statistical data."

In hard times people will want to buy guns. Stopping gun sales will obviously raise questions but by (owning) controlling gun manufacturers it would allow the government the option to stop sales at any time.

While we were all celebrating New Year's Eve President Obama signed into law the National Defence Authorisation Act bill (NDAA). This means that the President is the ultimate authority and government agencies can arrest and detain indefinatelly any USA citizen/legal resident anywhere in the world without warrent or any legal recource, in effect making the President the ultimate dictator. Any thinking person will realise that such a law must be a precursor to bad times ahead. With all the problems Macedonia has any Macedonian in the USA must be thinking that Macedonia is starting to look pretty good right now, or at least some other country. It's time to get out of the country.

NDAA Martial Law, new law signed causes outrage

On Jan. 1, numerous laws became effective with one being the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (FY 1012 NDAA, H.R. 1540). The controversial NDAA may give future presidents authority to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens on suspicion of terrorism. Many Americans are voicing their opinions via social media with claims of targeting the Constitution unjustly bringing tense emotions to the forefront. This new law has brought distress to many people as they feel deceived by the enactment of this law.

Some individuals are charging the Bill of Rights is being subtly dismantled piece by piece with chicanery and feel their rights as U.S. citizens are becoming obsolete. The due process of assumed terroristic charges is taken away with NDAA which appears to conflict with the Constitution. Many believe the obfuscation of the law leaves out direct interpretation and may have dire consequences in the future.

                        What do you believe?
Obama: I have the power to detain Americans... but I won't

                        Sunday, 01 January 2012
As Americans look upon this treacherous legislation, it it should first be remembered that the very bill President Obama threatened to veto was controversial due to the language the Obama White House pressured Congress to add to the bill, according to Sen. Carl Levin.

Second, Signing Statements are not law, and are not a Constitutional power granted to the executive branch; any reassuring (or troubling) language within has no binding status– though it may shed light on the character of the chief executive. However, the statement itself does not indicate any deviation of intent from the law as written and signed.

From Wikipedia: the US Constitution does not authorize the President to use signing statements to circumvent any validly enacted Congressional Laws, nor does it authorize him to declare he will disobey such laws (or parts thereof). When a bill is presented to the President, the Constitution (Art. II) allows him only three choices: do nothing, sign the bill, or (if he disapproves of the bill) veto it in its entirety.

Obama’s use of signing statements has clearly shown his willingness to continue the George W. Bush legacy– not only of torture and illegal detainment, but in the dangerous trend of de facto rule by “executive fiat.”

Further, Barack Obama has continued to backslide on his campaign promise not to use signing statements and executive orders to circumnavigate legislation signed into law.

This is why Pakistan and Iran are 'evil' and not because Iran has/will have weapons of mass destruction. The real 'weapon' is the pipe-line that will prevent the USA installing their own there.

Pakistan defies US, honors Iran gas deal

                            Thu Dec 29, 2011 6:38PM GMT
Islamabad has stepped up work on its bilateral agreements with Tehran including the implementation of a Pak-Iran gas pipeline project despite US threats.

“Construction work on the pipeline in Iranian area was completed. And on remaining portion that was to be constructed in Pakistani area the survey has been completed. Pakistan is bearing losses due to energy crises and it would go ahead with different options including Iran,” The Nation quoted a Pakistani official as saying on Thursday.

The Pakistani source added Islamabad had not backed down from its trade agreement with Iran.

On December 19, high-ranking Islamabad diplomats said the administration of Barack Obama is frustrated with the “rapid progress” of Pakistan's gas project with Iran, and is exhausting all its resources to sabotage the deal.

“They (US officials) have gone to the extent of threatening [Pakistan's] President [Asif Ali] Zardari of economic sanctions if work is not stopped immediately,” the official said.

Zardari, however, reportedly dismissed the threats, bluntly asserting that the commissioning of the project is vital and inevitable for the wellbeing of Pakistan's “fast crumbling” economy.

The USD 7.6 billion gas pipeline deal, which was signed in June 2010, aims to export a daily amount of 21.5 million cubic meters (or 8.7 billion cubic meters per year) of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan.

Iran and Pakistan finalized the details of the deal during bilateral talks held in Tehran in October 2007.

In addition to exporting gas to Turkey, Armenia, and Pakistan, Iran is currently negotiating gas exports to Iraq.

Gun sales in the USA have hit record highs in 2011, particularly in December. It is estimated 150 Million people own guns in the USA. If only 1% wanted to use them in an economic crisis it mean 1.5 Million people will be armed to the teeth and ready to fight, let alone the 10% figure circulating the rummer mill. The USA could be heading for an internal 'show-down' - is that what the NDAA is for? Is 2012 going to be a self fulfilling prophecy once the economy crashes - remember Europe is already on the way down and surviving on USA funds? Is it time to 'get out of Dodge' and 'T'ga za jug'?

Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days

Washington, 3 January 2012 (MIA) - According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

On Dec 23 alone there were 102,222 background checks, making it the second busiest single day for buying guns in history.

The actual number of guns bought may have been even higher if individual customers took home more than one each.

Explanations for America's surge in gun buying include that it is a response to the stalled economy with people fearing crime waves.

Another theory is that buyers are rushing to gun shops because they believe tighter firearms laws will be introduced in the future.

The National Rifle Association said people were concerned about self defence because police officer numbers were declining.
