New 86 million euro Casino opened in Gevgelija

This is by far the biggest and most expensive Casino in Stari Kraj, Gjevgjelija is starting to become the next Las Vegas.

    It looks fantastic

It's no Bellagio or Ceaser's Palace, but not bad for little old Gevgelija!

      It looks great.
      Really!

But I genuinely hope it is not the ruin of many families over there.

Fantastic! Now let's get the Serbs,Greeks and Bulgarians there so we can ruin them!
On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

I don't think many local families will be allowed to even set foot in that place.

Seeing as though that is where my mum is from, its just another place to stop over when I visit.

It would be good for local employment, although I have a sneaking suspicion that they may need to be able to communicate in the Greek language.

It will also be gratifying to watch all the Greeks come in their mini buses over the boarder spend the EU's money

Isn't that already the case with the one in Bitola and all of the Vero shops? Funny how Greeks get along just fine in the markets though. If Greeks want to shop, trade or do business in Macedonia then they should do it in Macedonian primarily, that should be the only requirement.

Sounds like something Soros would build with government approval - easy investment (sure money) for him and another toy. I think we understand why the church stays pretty quite over these structures - paid off

A friend of mine had a huge argument with a croupier and the pit boss in one of the casinos in Macedonia, he was quite offended when they gave instructions at a blackjack table in greek, even when he was the only one at the table and they knew he was Macedonian, to give them the shits, my mate kept asking them what language they were speaking and when they answered "greek"...he continued to challenge them about it and insisted they instruct in Macedonian...My mate has gambled in casinos all over the world and apparently Macedonia is one of the only places where the native tongue is relegated to second or third place status in casinos...i.e. instruction is firstly given in greek, sometimes english is next and finally Macedonian...fuckin' tossers.

Yes your right. As I understand it, the other casino in Gevgelija - Flamingo (I have a few cousins working there) they have to know the Greek language to communicate with the Turkish settlers that come over the border.

It amazes me what people will do to please others when it comes to money.

The catch to all of these types of rules and regulations are that the owners of the casinos are not Macedonian therefore have no patriotic ties with the country.

It sounds like a bizarre situation but when have things ever been normal in the Balkans.

Things will change, the tides will turn and Greek will again be a dead Language in Occupied Macedonia..
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

Who says Macedonians are not allowed there? If they can pay 200 euros a night anybody is welcome.

Yes Prolet I am from Stojakovo. Tatko mi e od Stojakovo a majkami e od Gevgelija.

                            They are actually 7km apart.

The rule for not letting in locals is (probably) restricted to the casino and gambling area. Locals may have come in with 200 euros but may have been causing problems hence the rule.

What exceptions there are to the rule I'm not sure.

Stojacanec, I think its safe to say that Gevgelija is the warmest city in Macedonia and they make the best slatko od smokvi there.

Just like the Crown Casino here im sure there will be high rollers who will go there to gamble, those who are wealthy im sure will not be rejected. Its an 86 million euro investment, they'll want to make money surly.
