The identity of the person interests me less. I don't really care, TBH. What I;m interested in is what the archaeological evidence from the wider Macedonian region might show us about how Macedonians, their forebears and neighbours lived, were organized, what religion they practiced, how they ruled themselves, and indirectly, what languages(s) they spoke.

They worshipped many different gods, many common "Balkan" deities not found in Greece. Eg Darron (also the name of a paeonian tribe and/or king), Dionysus, the "Thracian rider", Orpheus, Bendis, etc. They also worshipped the Sun - hence the "Vergina" symbol (sorry I don;t know what we call it in nashi), and idolized the goat & oxen (seen on the iconography of their coins) - a trait shared with "Thracian' type tribes around the Struma/Vardar and Paeonians.

Later, to suit their political aims, they superficially incoporated Greek gods, eg Zeus, etc, but they still actually worshipped their own gods, with new names. They buried their dead in totally different ways to the Greeks, and spent a great deal of time and resources for this, rather than constructing temples like the Greeks did.
