Makedonetz, the song on your clip is pretty new and has nothing to do with prespa and kozani, what led you to it?
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

Guys, i had these on my youtube favorites already. These songs are from Ottoman Empire times and all of them at least 100+ years old. Some of them maybe 200 year old melodies.

Can you tell me if you know these songs or not? Anyone performs these songs in Macedonia today???

                      Candan Ercetin - Osman Aga

YouTube - candan erçetin beyazıt öztürk osman ağa 07.03.2007

Btw, Ms. Candan Ercetin`s(lady) parents are from Skopje. I think they are ~1940s immigrants...

                      Deniz Toprak - Drama Koprusu

YouTube - Deniz TOPRAK-Drama Köprüsü (Bre Hasan)

This song tells a story about a "Robin Hood" like person from Debar but the song describes his actions at Drama(in today`s Greece)...

                      Kizim Be Kizim Naciye Kizim

YouTube - Rumeli türkü - Kızım Be Kızım Naciye Kızım

                      Sumer Ezgu - Calin davullari

YouTube - (Sümer Ezgü) Calin davullari

This is a song from Salonika/Serres. Sad song about the yearning of Salonika.

                      Tulay Agagil - Mavrova'dan aldim

YouTube - (Tülay Agagil) Mavrova'dan aldim

A song with lyrics about Mavrova(in todays Albania??)

                      Hanka Paldum -Osman pasa

YouTube - Hanka Paldum -"Osman pasa" Kamerni teatar

A song about a brave soldier "Osman pasha" who fought at Pleven(Bulgaria?) vs Russians. This is actually a "Mehter"(ottoman military band) anthem. Bosnian singer performing.

The ones that sound most familiar musically (to me) are:
                        Kizim Be Kizim Naciye Kizim
                        Indim Bahceye

In the case of Indim Bahceye, there is text preceding the song title as follows "Rumeli Turku". Is it safe to assume that this kind of music is specific only to the Rumelian Turks? In which case I am curious as to the chance that this music may have in fact gone from the Balkans to the Ottomans. This has never been my assumption before, but I have always been interested in the sound of Macedonian music prior to Ottoman influences.

Yes, all these songs are Balkans originated, mostly Aegean Macedonia but everyone liked these songs here even 100 years ago, not only Rumelian Turks. If you wonder who created this type of music my answer would be, everyone at 19th century(Turks, Macedonians, Albanians, Gypsies etc.). IMHO, this is our common music. I cant say that one specific culture/ethnicity created this music but i can safely say that most of the instruments are Anatolia originated like daul, oud, saz, klarinet, zurna, kemenche...

                          P. S: A tag of "Rumeli Turku" signifies that this song has Rumelian style which is Balkans. There are a lot of different styles in old folk and classical music of Ottoman Empire times which separated from each other by tempo, variance etc. "Rumeli" was just one of them.
