    Village Paljurci

Palurci is a rural village in the Bogdanci region, they are looking to expand it for tourism this is where Apostol Pavel stayed on his trip to Rome. This year makes the anniversary of 2000 years since he was born.

Mastika, What more can you tell us about this Rural village in Stari Kraj?

Hmm Interesting question. The "village" or where it used to be seems to have been destroyed. Today a small reservoir seems to occupy some of where the village used to be. The village did exist 100 years ago and was inhabited by 150 Macedonians. If you are going to travel from Gevgelija to lake Dojran then you must go past the small lake and what remains of the village so it is good idea to set up a tourist venture here. I am not sure as to why the village was destroyed, whether it was due to conflict or due to the building of the dam. It is claimed that Apostol Pavle/Saint Paul did pass through here on his many travels. Hopefully locals will be able to capitalise upon pilgrims following his travels and attract them to area.

Here is a good detail further outlining the village. The link between Goce Delcev and church is also interesting.

      Spolaj Ti Mastika,

Can you see this village becoming a hit tourist attraction like Brajchino for example? It does look interesting thats for sure, theres alot of history behind it.

Umm, I'm not sure about that. Brajcino and Paljurci are worlds apart. At least in Brajcino there are houses and facilities, in Paljurci you have a dam and very little else. Tourists can easily fly in to Ohrid and go on a day-trip to Brajcino. There isn't an airport close to Paljurci to encourage such large scale tourism. Given this, most of the initial tourism will probably either be people from South-Eastern Macedonia or from Greece coming to visit the site on day trips or tours passing through Gevgelija may choose to visit the site. However from what I understand is that much effort and funds needs to be invested in Paljurci for there to be something to visit. At the moment there are only a few ruined houses, a small lake and a lot of cleaning up to do. Even if the village is rebuilt then it will more likely be a solely tourist venture and thus not have the old world charm of a village such as Brajcino. Once the ruins are excavated and where St Paul visited are located then I don't see why in say 20 years time there shouldn't be sufficient tourism passing through the site.

Mastika, The road is good enough to get there, its around 60-70 km from Ohrid to drive there Bogdanci is not so far away. I guess they would need to build something the people want to see which is history and tradition. Im sure they'll build a few hotels there so the people can stay there.

Prolet, Bogdanci is more than 200 kilometres away from Ohrid by road, probably over 250 kilometres. Hardly close.

As for the second half I agree that infrastructure will be need to be improved to cater for additional tourists.
