Victorian Labor MP Peter Batchelor Resigned; he announced he would not contest the seat of Thomastown in the upcoming Victorian State Election.

For those who are unaware, the seat of Thomastown is the Victorian electorate with the highest concentration of Macedonians.

I think if a Macedonian wins the Victorian Labor pre-selection for the seat of Thomastown, which will be extremely difficult, he/she will definitely be the kind to help the Macedonian community and he/she would be the first Australian-Macedonian State MP.

I'm yet to see a Member of Parliament (other than an independent) that has not been re-programmed by the party machine

I just like the ring to that, but on a serious note, hopefully whoever is elected to represent the seat of Thomastown, will, unlike their apparatchik predecessor (Peter Batchelor), actually listen and act in accordance with the wishes of their constituency, of whom a significant portion are Macedonians.
