Because they've done such a great job of voting for the right people and policies up until now, right? I think there has never been a better time for diaspora involvement, we are all Macedonians and the Macedonian state is supposed to be the ethno-national and cultural-linguistic home of all Macedonians across the world, not just those in Macedonia. So why should we be excluded, or included on the basis of support for an existing political party, all of which have demonstrated their willingness to negotiate?

The Republic of Macedonia has been independent for some 20 years now.

In order to vote, it is not enough to be a citizen. You must be able to prove your citizenship with a Macedonian passport or ID cards. For example, my Macedonian birth certificate, with the 'matichen broj" on it is not enough. How many people here have Macedonian passports or ID cards? What did you need to do to get one?

Furthermore, even though your name may already appear on an electoral roll in Macedonia, you had between 20 April 2011 and 4 May 2011 to register for the Australian electoral roll, in order to be able to vote. How many people heard or read that announcement in that short timeframe? When exactly did you read or hear about it? Did you do what was required to register? Have you checked if your name is on the Australian roll? If not, you might want to check whether you have been registered to vote in Munich or somewhere else on the other side of the world.

Also, if you have seen the final electoral roll for Australia, you will find that all the names on it are listed with Macedonian addresses. Try contacting those people to check if they really live in Australia or sending them a campaign letter, if you are a candidate.

if told you you would not beleive me what happened to me trying to get a passport in 1995.I bought my relos a video recorder akai for about $300.This includes paying the australian customs tax etc.When i took it to macedonia they said they wanted another $340 in tax the price would have been $640.Someone suggested i get a macedonia passport. You avoid paying any tax.But first i had to get a birth certificate.Then the dramas unfolded.My surname on the birth cert ends in "ov"my father & mother's surname ends in "ovski"
So to fix that you need to get taxani marki & pay a fee to get it transferred.Un knowed to us when they changed the name instead of a v they put an f so back to the court in bitola to get that changed.Then the two officials wanted btribe money we had to give them about $30 each.Then we proceeded to go to the social security section ,it was about 2pm they operated till 3pm.So we waited for an hour for nothing the attendant said at 3pm that's it were closed no more.We said were in can't you serve us they said come back next week.We said next week we go back to australia.We ended up swearing at them etc.I said in australia you get served with the doors cklosed.They don't give a shit.Why would a macedonian get a passport unless for patriotistic reasons & voting.If they have the australian passport why would they be silly to get another one what will it prove given the way they treat us.I don't beleive that they want us to vote as we could tilt the balance of power.It has been my long term view the macedonian govt should have concerned itself with the diaspora why because it made sense for the Rom govt to automatically recognize those citizens who prior to 1991 were born in macedonia with yugoslav passports.What stupidity they left us with the yugoslav passports & now they want to make money out of us.
I think the rolls etc are rorted in macedonia .I'm not surprised with so much corruption going on & the govt of the day desperate to get in the'll try anything.
I told you allready SDCM is giving away coffee & jobs in govt if one votes & it gets in.
I have got relatives here in oz who wanted to vote they said to them one is registered to vote on their computer the other isn't.But they have been going to macedonia every 2nd year & have been both voting in elections with no problem.
