I am proud to announce that my facebook group: "The Republic of Macedonia and Greece can be friends and we can prove it" has nearly hit 3,000 members. A group with many Greeks who support and recognize Macedonia and Macedonians who seek a future of better relations. The group is also associated with a FB charity started in Greece to fund medical supplies to Macedonian hospitals and is now universal. So please join if you wish...I based on my personal experience can say that this group constitutes a fraction of the Greeks I have met who express pro- or netural- thoughts on Macedonia...so I hope to see it grow.

Good for you George, hopefully you can make some progress on that front. The only thing I would object to is this:

You probably didn't post the short-form name of 'Macedonia' to avoid criticism, but f you're going to use the long-form name of 'Republic of Macedonia', then you should do the same for Greece, ie; 'Hellenic Republic'.

No, mine are GS. It was a group creation, I believe I'm the only person from America and the other few people are from Northern Greece and Macedonia. Haha, but yea sorry I called it my group implying that it was my sole creation, we're simply looking to enlist many members.

Well idk, I have many Greek ancestors from Thessaloniki (once Solun) so for all I know there could be many. I have only tested my recent ancestral genes, but never developed a family tree. Unfortunately I do not speak any of the languages of my ancestors. So no Polish, Greek, or Macedonian...and any linguist knows that those are very hard languages to learn. I speak English, German, and beginning Japanese.

Hey SirGeorge8600 hope the group goes well and hopefully both nations can become friends and not be blinded by politics..

Just one thing, I got turned off from afew greek members posting racist comments and propaganda…how about controlling some of your members of the likes of Jeff Smith & Panos Villios
Otherwise it will be another FB group where certain greeks spoil it for the rest......

Yeah I thought he might be Slovenian but then I started getting confused by his pictures his display picture shows him in a Slovenian shirt but he has pictures of Macedonian symbols and that last name Zrinski isn't very Macedonian unless he made it up or had an ancestor named Zrin

I am afraid I am the one creating the fuss with the name of the group. Just felt like being a bit of a bitch for a moment The groups is a great idea. I just cant understand this double standard. Thats all

Unless the facebook group categorically rejects the position of the Greek government, and asks the Greek government to recognise its indigenous Macedonian people, living in its country who have no basic human rights. Then perhaps I would, but only if the facebook page states clearly that the Greek government has NO RIGHT to block Macedonians entering foriegn clubs, and institutions.

Then, if it accepts and recognises the ruthless suppression of its native Macedonian people, as a simple historical premise and fact - I think you might have something there.

If your facebook page can't do this simple thing, then its counterfeit.

Otherwise, it looks like just another "device" used by the Greek government to get people to "forget about the past" and "move on" so to speak.
