British museum entrance & exhibit

Julie was in Turkey last week and she posted some of her pictures on facebook. The monuments of Alexander in Istanbul archeology museum. I think she can post those here too.

Btw, if you don't know already, when Alexander first came to Izmir, he ordered for the construction of an Agora, a marketplace for the city. It`s ruins are one of the most iconic places here. Most interesting part is; there is an underground passage with two exits, the port at the city center and the Agora place. It`s about 800mt long and it`s been probably used for transporting goods from the port to the Agora in ancient times. Actually, the complex built by the Alexander has been demolished by an earthquake and then repaired by the Romans but nevertheless, Agora has been constructed by Alexander.

Cheers RTG. Onur, I was at the Istanbul archaeological museum a couple of weeks ago and interestingly the only sarcophagus i recall seeing encased in glass was the exquisite 'Alexander sarcophagus'. Julie probobly has similar pics but i'll post these anyway
