20 Years Macedonian Independance

Amazing scenes there, accompanied by some classic folk songs. The city square looks stunning now.
Let's hope that the messages in the patriotic songs actually get through to both the people and the government.
Would definitely be a truly inspiring experience to be in attendance, in particular the sekoj da ja znae performance was great.

The only thing missing here for me is the true Macedonian flag flying from the buildings.

If the FYR could be dropped, the ventilator flag that was adorned throughout the city was the kutlesh sonce, Gruevski's speech was non existent with name change and EU entry, the FA declared null and void and the warrior have his rightful name, then perhaps some celebration would indeed be in order for a sovereign nation

Just in regard to the flag, I don't understand why the Kutlesh isn't more prominantly displayed by the average citizen in Macedonia on these national days and celebrations...talk about 'missing' an opportunity to make a point...

...maybe a worthwhile diaspora initiative would be to donate 'thousands' of Kutlesh flags to the average citizens so they can wave them on days of national importance, including historical, cultural and sporting occassions...it's like hand feeding these people, otherwise it's a never ending battle against their general apathy in matters of national consciousness and self determination...maybe then, will the government, through the whoring machinations of 'politics' will be moved to alter its current reckless course...

I'm sure the general public would wave whatever you gave them. I don't think many actually think about what the sonce means and what the ventilator means, as evidenced by quite a few forum members here...

I think handing out flags is a good idea, but would include a tiny information card or fridge magnet with them.
