    Translation Please

Could one of our Greek speakers please translate the following passage please.

It's from an article by Nakratzas. Just wondering what it says.

    Thanks in advance.

Our political representative is Mr Karamanlis, whose anchestors originate from the Karamanlides from Kappadokia (Karaman), being members of a peoples of Iranian origin, to say Persian, who due to their christianization transformend into Romans (Romii) and later on into Greeks comers in Macedonia around 20th century.

So it is true, I have heard that their old family name was Kalaycioglu.

Taken from an old wikipedia article that has been edited by our patriotic Greeks whom do not like to know the truth.

        Earlier Karamanlis

Karamanlis's forefathers lived in Karaman, Turkey. The family's former (Turkish) surname was Kalaycioglu. When the family left Turkey, they changed their surname into Karamanlis.

El Bre could you give us a reference to the article itself?

Well, it is quite difficult to collaborate the story. In any case:

Karaman is indeed a place in Turkey, and more accurately a name with a Turkish meaning (kara means black in Turkish)

Karamanlis' family were in Macedonia prior to the 20th century. He was born at 1907 in Macedonia:

Thus, any possible arrival of his family from the other side of the Aegean does not relate to population exchanges (at least not the official ones)...

They most likely arrived in the 19th century.

You cannot conclude that. They might have arrived in the 16th century as well, or maybe they got the name accidentally. It is impossible to determine if you do not find archives that mention something.
