Narodne Pesme Makedonski Bugara, 1860, Stefan Verkovic Belgrade pages 150 and 151
Found this song, It's very similar to a story told to me as a child, might have also been in one of the Macedonian citanki. It's about a boy who is taken as a janissary after his village is destroyed. Many years later he marries his biological sister who was also taken without each other knowing who they truly are. When their son is born the Janissary hires an old lady (porobena) to help look after him. They overhear her singing to the boy that he is the son of a brother and sister who do not know each other but she knows them she was from the same village they were taken from. The story seems to be a slight variation of this song.

Thanks for that post astibo
Is there a particular reason why this song is your favorite? it would be interesting to know why certain songs mean something to particular people. Is there history behind it such as Vasil Chakalarov being a relative, or you come from a region where he fought etc. Or is it just the tune or words that you find inspiring. Cheers mate.http://www.macedoniantruth.org/forum/showthread.php?p=120873#post120873

ALEKSANDRE TURUNDZEV OD (EKSHI SU)
This song is amazing. I stood at the corner (In Bitola) where he was hung. I seen a actual photo of him being hung. I had all sorts of emotions at that time. Unfortunately i did not visit his grave which aparently has the rope that he was hung with on display.
Apart from the emotional aspect of this song, i love how the lyrics to this song tells a brief story of this legend.
Crno mu bilo pishano
na Aleksandre Turundzhev,
shesnajst godishen vojvoda,
na sedumnajsta go fanaja.
Go turija vo zandani
vo tija tesni dolapi,
chifte belegzii na race
i droben sindzhir na gusha.
Telegram dojde od Stambol
za Aleksandre Turundzhev
da si ja vidi nevestata
i svojte drobni dechinja.
Go izvedova At-Pazar,
mu ja kazhaja besilkata.
Cela se Bitola rasplaka
za Aleksandre Turundzhev.

Chakalarov was one of the greatest macedonian heroes from that heroic period. Also the tune of the song is awesome, tipicaly macedonian, and i love the text especialy the folowing:
"ozdola ide bahtijar pasa
so 30 000
Cakalarov je
so 300 momcinja...
Bahtijar pasa vikase ujdur kardaslar
Cakalarov vikase Ura momcinja"
Awesome
I must say that the dialect from aegean Macedonia is very close with the Stip-Kocani dialect. I have wached on youtube one man from Lerin speaking, he sounded like he is from Stip, with some minor differences ofcourse...
