That name is meant to appease the patriots? Pathetic.

We've gone from "don't FYROM me" to "RIM me".
Not that there's anything wrong with that.Risto the Great

At the end of the day they are going to change the name as this was requested by their paymasters.
Nothing shocking about it, just sad reality.
Ilinden has a special place in our hearts and at the very least this will pay honour to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on August 02 1903. I would vote for this option against the other current options, though doubt the Albanians would agree to a name that is historically specifically relevant to the Macedonians hence it won’t happen.
The country is full of and run by fuckwits. What’s the alternative? My preferred option to look east keep the status quo and not west, but we know how quick the west would start a rebellion for equal rights in FYROM if that happen.

Каракачанов: Илинденско востание е бугарско востание, немаме ништо против Република Илинденска Македонија
Први во Македонија.
Села: Илинденска Македонија нема да одразува секуларна држава

On a serious note why the need for Republic? Why not just Ilinden Macedonia? Not as bad as Bosnia and Herzegovina..?

I find it unlikely that Greece will accept this name given that the Krushevo Republic included parts of Lerin and Kostur, and that the goal of the Ilinden revolution was to liberate all of Macedonia, not just what is now the Republic of Macedonia. However Greece could insist that the name not be allowed to be translated into English, which means no one around the world will know what "Republika Ilindenska Makedonija" means.

By the way, as a Greek, I find the name an excellent idea. Actually after 20 plus years I did not expect any good new ideas could be produced. Congratulations to whoever it was that recommended it!

Greece rejects 'Ilinden Macedonia' outright, Tsipras' cabinet demands a geographical or time-bound reference

The Prime Minister of Greece accepted Zaev's offer that the new name will be used erga omnes and that Macedonia will change its constitution, but stated that "Ilinden Macedonia" cannot be the new name and that a geographical qualifier needs to be used instead.
Zaev and co. are fools.
