It is easy for someone thousands of miles away to comment about U.S. politicans claiming they have done nothing for Macedonia. Come here and go door to door and advocate for Macedonia and convince U.S. politicans to support Macedonia.

Senator George Voinovich was one of the Senators who advocated for the U.S. to recognize Macedonia as Republic of Macedonia (successfully), to join NATO (albeit unsuccessfully), for foreign aid to increase. Senator Voinovich when Governor of Ohio helped John Bitove, Dr. Chris Stefanovich, and the Macedonian community of Toronto and Ohio deliver millions of dollars worth of pharmaceuticals to Macedonia when Greece imposed an economic embargo on Macedonia. He also assisted former first lady Wilma Trajkovska obtain several mammography machines from Ohio hospitals to be played in Macedonian hospitals. Senator Voinovich has been to Macedonia several times. He is a real friend to the Macedonian community of Ohio, which numbers over 100,000.

UMD has not been always pleased with some of his statements, but overall, if anyone in the Senate deserves an award that is Senator Voinovich. Last year, Senator Lugar received the UMD International Freedom Award.

This is becoming a tad insulting
      No, and No. Simple.

It is insulting what the international community is doing, however, we won't succeed by just highlighting how insulting it is. But rather doing something about.

Macedonia needs help and we are hanging out on forums and chatting about how insulting someone's statement was. Instead of chatting about it, we would suggest getting out there and paving the halls of Congress, Parliament etc...and advocating support for Macedonia.

      When will Australia recognize Macedonia?

No it is not easy being thousands of miles away, and it is not easy to hear negotiations continue, it is not easy to see what is left of Macedonia being eroded to nothing. It is not easy having had family that bled and was lost in the Gragaynska voyna za sloboda. and we are allowing it to be given away. Our idenity. our right for self determination. and we allow these people to say these things and i dont like it. I know many others that dont. I hope your senator can read my comments......

how would you like it if the state you lived in was over run and the fate decided by another overseas country, how would you like to see that state divided into 4 pieces, and then lose your name and be forced to speak a bullshit language, how would you like it if there was one piece of that state left and the whole world screws it over. and has fancy pants paid politicians mouthing off over its name. would you like that Mr Senator, i think not
Meto, isnt it time that we stop rewarding these people? is it not time to keep one piece of our country free and to keep our name?> isnt it time to stop selling our right to call ourselves our beautiful God given name, one name WITHOUT INSULTING PREFIXES OR SUFFIXES -------MACEDONIA------

Meto, why not unite with AMHRC and unite with every LEADING macedonian organisation, together we are all strong, for our beautiful country so that it is not lost forever.
If you have made a mistake, move on, admit it, and forgiven, we are all here for one thing, and that is our god given right to call ourselves MACEDONIAN

you may find many supporters if we can have unity

Excellent. So surely then, you would not receive support from such persons, right?

Reeker, for all his past efforts at commending the Macedonians for providing troops, for speaking a few Macedonians words to a Macedonian crowd, has shown his colours. Do you really want the person quoted below promoting your organisation, Meto?

In case you're interested, here is how people like Reeker should be addressed:

          http://www.macedoniantruth.org/forum...ead.php?t=3368
UMD has a great deal of respect for Ambassador Reeker. His last statement was highly inappropriate and UMD already conveyed this to him and to the State Department.

Macedonia's future depends on what the Macedonians want, not what the international community or Greece or Reeker wants. Macedonians control their future. Macedonians do not want a name change, and will not stand for it. Thus, as someone on this forum says, the issue is null and void. It is all a game of public diplomacy and awareness. We need to get more media attention favoring Macedonia's position.

              When will Australia recognize Macedonia?

RoM needs to do something, by entering into negotiations for change in name we are giving into it

Australia FYROMS us . how insulting. do you not think we are insulted, we have no support here whatsoever from the politicians , they will follow what England does and have always done so

Meto, how can we convince RoM to stop the farce. Entering the EU will not achieve anything for us as a people

can we not organise a world wide protest , for the recognition of the name Macedonia, without prefixes or suffixes, we have to do something and do something fast, it hurts me to witness the disintegration of my beautiful country,

the berlin wall came down peacefully by hand
if every Macedonian commun ity and organisation can do something, then peacefully protest for recognition of our beautiful name

                diaspora.

diaspora signifies how many people, or a sub section of people

meto, you will find if you do read the comments on this forum, the frustration we have in the diaspora. The voice of the people.
We shoould not be working backwards, but collectively, the diaspora to assist RoM , not the other way round.
And no, i dont respect the comments by your politicans in the US
It is akin to rewarding the SA premier 's rasicist comments .

First things Macedonia MUST do is move away from the US and EU infulence. To be able to defend ourselves we must grow some balls and stand up for ourselves. The only way we can do this is to STOP co-operating and sucking up to the US/EU coz they will take us down. Macedonia must move towards China, Turkey even the Middle East for friends and totaly forget about the US. The US put the arms into the Albanians hands in 2001 and nothing will stop them from doing it again. Have we forgotten? What is this crap advertising of a US ambassador? As far as I am concerned he should have been sent to the US in 2001 and never allowed to return. What sort of sucking up is this to this country? Are we all blind or just plain stupid? The US has recognised Macedonia and yet pushes for compromise? How can that work? Or they don't even believe in the recognition? I know they don't, that was staged anyway to screw up the referendum. Why the endless posts on forums, THE US IS NOT OUR FRIEND. Start making friends that will count.

Julie, the United Kingdom recognizes Macedonia as Republic of Macedonia in bilateral relations (UMD has met with the UK representative at the UN and we know this is the position of the UK). If Australia followed England's policy, then why did it sign the social security agreement with Macedonia under "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia?" The more important question is why did Macedonia sign a bilateral agreement with Australia under the name "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" and not Republic of Macedonia.

Everyone can do something, every little bit helps, certainly.

You forgot to mention living on an "idyllic pacific island" as the reason why its so easy to criticize UMD's pandering to arsehole American politicians and kissing the arses of your landlords at the US State Department, the guys that pay your rent in Washington.

You came cap in hand to Australia to sell the UMD story, your news letter highlighted the thousands of kilometres your crusade endured but when the criticism hits home your defence is the tyranny of distance itself and the inferior "life experiences" of the Australians...

You're shit scared to criticize anybody from the US State Department because they will cut their funding to your organization.

Your organization doesn't represent the Macedonian Diaspora it represents American interests.

                              Meto,

Why is it that charities and non-profit organisations not only have a clear statement of purpose, but also publically release annual reports, including financial details (its called transparancy and accountability), yet UMD has trouble answering the most basic questions? And when UMD attempts to provide an answer, it only leads to more questions, contradictions and confusion?

UMD, The figures that come out from the states about how much AID they give to our country is actually not even 10% of what they say, the money goes to their Staff and our citizens hardly get any of the so called funds. Just like the people of Haiti we all saw how much the citizens got out of it.

The fact of the matter is that we are in a war fighting for the Americans while in return they are not even supporting our name how far can we trust them?

МАКЕДОНИЈА во срце те носиме.
