The ICJ case is yet another thing the Greeks want swept under the carpet. This process needs to become far more public. If the Republic is not up to the fight and not willing to treat this as critically as it should, then the Republic is stuffed. I hope the apathy within the country can be dealt with.
I think my message has been clear for quite some time on this forum;
The EU is far from ideal and offers us no concrete benefits.
The press in Macedonia is corrupt. (Great news about the A1 resignations btw)
There is nothing to be gained from negotiation.
Diplomacy is probably a necessary evil, but the moment diplomacy becomes prostitution many Macedonians will either explode with unfathomable rage or register utter disinterest.
Sovius, you make an excellent point about politicians making decisions that make them look bad. This is where Macedonia has the advantage if it uses its brains and has the desire. Nobody has the right to take away Macedonia's sovereignty unless Macedonia wants to give it up.
The suggestions that the Greek offers on the table for the name North Macedonia are ludicrous. One would have thought the perfect forum for a sellout would have been at the missed opportunity Milososki/Bakoyanni meeting. The offers do make me wince a little though, how can Greece offer cheap money when it is being drip fed by the EU? Can Macedonia take over Kosovo in a similar way in the future? One would think so based on the skewed logic. The liberalized visa regime is most welcome ... and on its way right now from the real decision makers ... thanks Greece, but no thanks.
