OMO Ilinden Pirin against Bulgaria-Macedonia treaty
OMO Ilinden Pirin against Bulgaria-Macedonia treaty
In a special declaration the ethnic Macedonian party in Bulgaria OMO Ilinden-Pirin expressed their attitude towards the Bulgarian proposal for a new treaty between Bulgaria and Macedonia.
The Macedonian illegitimate says in a statement, sent to Bulgarian media, it supports the principles of neighborly relations between Bulgaria and Macedonia. Along with that OMO wants a new treaty, immediate recognition of the Macedonian minority. It also sees Bulgaria’s attitude towards Macedonia as extortion and that of momentary advantages.
The statement says: "We express the astonishment and even indignation with regard to certain aspects of the offered new treaty of our government”.
"Attempting to bind Bulgarian support, not only with unprincipled requests, but with circumstances beyond the control of Macedonia is essentially preparation for blocking its membership in the example of Greece and even more unprincipled. Because the Macedonian organizations in Bulgaria are formed by the Macedonian minority living here, not the Macedonian state.
According to OMO Ilinden-Pirin:
"Seeking responsibility of the Republic of Macedonia about the activities of citizens of Bulgaria and to threaten it with veto for EU membership is not only putting a condition impossible to meet, but part of the extortion of the citizens of Bulgaria to quit the fight for their rights. The Bulgarian government should be aware that this will not make the Macedonians in Bulgaria stop fighting for their rights, but may lead to destabilization of the region and worsening relations between the two countries. "
OMO Ilinden-Pirin wants immediate recognition of Macedonian minority.
"Recognition of the Macedonian minority and grant of rights is an obligation under the terms of Bulgaria for EU membership; it is part of the Copenhagen criteria. Instead of trying to communicate with the representatives of this minority, with those Bulgarian citizens and taxpayers through another country, the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria should heed the recommendations of ECRI [Council of Europe's independent human rights monitoring body specialized in combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia etc], the EU Commissioner for Human Rights Hammarberg and other European and international institutions and to enter into dialogue with representatives of the Macedonian minority and to stop hate speech against the Macedonians. "
OMO Ilinden-Pirin wants a new treaty between Bulgaria and Macedonia.
We are not against signing such a contract, but with other content.
First, it must include an official declaration that the Republic of Bulgaria recognizes the Macedonian nation, language etc. because it is the denial of these realities is the main factor that poisoning the good neighborly relations.
Secondly, we believe that it is necessary to cement the neighborhood of both parties to be bound by the recognition of the minorities on its territory.
Bravo Brajke i sestri pirinci da sve zdravi i zivi. Lets see if the gov of ROM ignore this.
