"As an Honorary Consul in Belgium it is my task to promote the Republic of Macedonia in my region. On 29 October 2010 I started a project in order to let more people know about the Macedonian tourism portal ecploring macedonia.com. Being a dedicate pilot myself, I will regularly tow a banner with a large Macedonian flag and the words exploringmacedonia.com over the populated areas of Belgium and the western part of Germany that is in the reach of the small airplane which tows the banner," Dommel says.
The banner itself is roughly 22m-long and 3m-high, with the Macedonian flag over 6m-long and 2m-high - together with the large letter 'exploringmacedonia.com the banner is clearly visible to everyone on the ground. Flying alongside highways and over villages, cities of Belgium and Germany it will attract a lot of interest for the Macedonian National Tourism Portal and hopefully bring new tourists to Macedonia.
On October 29, the first flight was marked with a small reception, hosted by the Honorary Consul and attended by Macedonia's Ambassador to Belguim Muhamed Halili, as well as a delegation of fellow Macedonians from the EU and NATO Missions.
On the previous evening, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki and the country's Ambassador to the EU Nikola Poposki took part in baptizing the banner in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.
