    Turkish films

YouTube - Turkish film labeled anti-semitic
'Valley of the Wolves -- Palestine', the latest in a wildly popular series of action films, has been labeled anti-Semitic.

In it three Turkish special forces operatives shoot their way through Jerusalem and the West Bank to avenge the real-life Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara ship last May, that left nine Turks dead.

Al Jazeera's Anita MacNaught reports from Istanbul, Turkey.
So now you can't even hurt a Jewish person on a movie without getting called anti-semitic? It's like Greece threatening Iceland about our documentary film "A Name is a Name".

I have to watch this movie when it comes .

The producers of the series called "valley of the wolves" and this movie is very close to Erdogan`s political party. They are just trying to earn some money from the flotilla event.

I didn't watch the movie since i don't intent to give my money to these people but i am quite sure that there is no antisemitism in this. Probably they just bash Israeli government throughout the movie and ofc Israeli people wont be happy to see Israeli soldiers getting killed even in a movie scene while it`s usually no problem for US and Israeli soldiers killing Arabs, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russians etc. both in movies and in real life.

ATESH There's no pleasing anyone. How can you make a movie depicting real events & expect a favourable outcome.I don't think the film is anti semitic as it doesn't really target the jewish race itself.Race has got nothing to do with it it couldv'e portrayed any other country. It's also a case of your damned if you do & damned if you don't.Also in the land of films it's all fantasy & make beleive who cares what happens on film.

              Turkish Film "Conquest 1453"

I wouldn't mind seeing this. I wonder if it will come out in Australia?

Turkish film about the conquest of Constantinople caused outrage Greece

Turkish film about the conquest of Constantinople by the
Ottoman Empire enraged the Greeks, according to Turkish media.

The newest film by Turkish director Faruk Aksoj, "Fetih 1453" ("Conquest 1453") historical epic about the fall of Constantinople in 1453 will appear in the cinema on 17 February, and already many Greeks qualify as provocative and racist. Greek media called "propaganda of the Turkish invasion of 17 million dollars" and it has caused comments to Greek readers. film with a budget of 17 million dollars is the most expensive Turkish film ever and will be shown in many countries worldwide including USA, France , the UAE and the UK in February. The authors of the script, and Attila Engin Irfan Saruhan

Maybe the Greeks can spend $17 Million making their own version about how they 'won' - the West may even use it for history lessons.

If a movie or book doesn't glorify greek myth, then it must be a lie or propaganda....right..?
Should be a good movie to watch...
17million isn't much these days for a movie... just ask the greeks how much they spend on supporting journalist in greece.
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

Interesting fact. There seems to be more to Macedonian history than you first think.

The sister of Suleiman the Magnificent was buried in Skopje

Writes Daniel Kocevski - It is known that the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, two cities served as the capital of the Ottomans, one was Edirne and other Skopje. In Skopje mostly stayed Sultan Bayezid, but not only him. Also, it is known that close family members of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, today especially popular after the current television series, is directly related to the City

In this interesting story, a special curiosity that is not a member of any family but his close relatives. One of the best connoisseurs of history's most famous mayor of Skopje and of the late 19th and early 20th century-Salih Asim Rustem Bey, in his famous book "History of Skopje and its surroundings" speaks exactly to Suleiman the Magnificent.

An update on what looks like a very interesting film.

"Fetih 1453" causes negative raction in Greece

                      Wednesday, 01 February 2012

Fetih 1453 is a Turkish historical epic movie. It tells the story of Constantinople (Istanbul)'s capture by the Ottoman Turks during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II. It stars Devrim Evin as Mehmet II, İbrahim Çelikkol as Ulubatlı Hasan and Dilek Serbest as Era.

Fetih 1453 will be released in different countries during 17 February 2012[2], including United States, the United Kingdom, France, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Germany, Macedonia, Russia, Azerbaijan and several others.
Fetih 1453 is the most expensive Turkish movie ever, costing 17 million dollar to make.

Greece has been in uproar over the movie and it has already banned it on its territory. According to Athens, the movie was inaccurate, provocative and racist because it did not follow 'facts' that Athens would have liked to see.

That's very true, but don't forget the old saying...."the enemy of my enemy...is my friend"
At this point in time our southern neighbours qualify as our enemy IMHO.
On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

And who says the Turks are our enemy ? You would rather turn yourselves into a neo-ottoman satellite selling all your public assets to Erdogan than you would to sit down on the table and work it out with us. If tommorrow you turn into a new Bosnia, dont blame us for it.

So true, but the definition of friend is very loose today and the scale of friendship so vast a lot of people can fit under the umbreler of friend.
