The shock was widespread when the statue of Robert the Bruce close to the Battle of Bannockburn site was vandalised with graffiti calling one of Scotland’s national heroes a racist.

The statue of one of Scotland’s national heroes was targeted by anti-racism campaigners with graffiti alluding to the Black Lives Matter protest and carrying the words: “Robert was a racist bring down the statue”. But why was the First King of Scots and leader of Scotland’s forces during much of the first Wars of Independence come under attack by anti-racism campaigners?

A statement from the Battle of Bannockburn Experience visitor centre has attempted to illuminate the issues surrounding the vandalism, the racism claims and why Bruce has been portrayed in this way. While it is was not immediately apparent what the graffiti was referencing, it may relate to the fact that Bruce had his heart taken on a crusade following his death in 1329, the centre said. The statement added: “Sir James Douglas, who was an experience Scottish war leader and had been personally knighted by the king at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, led a company of seven other knights and 20 squires to southern Spain, where they joined the army of King Alfonso XI of Castile on campaign against the Muslim emirate of Granada. “Douglas and his companions were killed at the Battle of Teba in 1330, fighting troops that would have been predominantly (perhaps exclusively) black. “Some modern histories have sought to present the Scots’ intention as being a peaceful pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem that was merely diverted to warfare in Spain when passage to the Holy Land proved too difficult to manage. “However, it is clear from contemporary sources, such as the safe conduct Edward III had produced so that Douglas’s party could pass through England on their way to the Continent in 1329, or the absolution given by the pope for the removal of the king’s heart, that the Scots intention had been to do battle ‘against Saracens’.” ‘Saracens’ was a word used in medieval Christendom as a ‘catch-all term for Muslims’ and was certainly not a term that anyone every applied to themselves, the centre said. While the religious motivations behind the actions of the Douglas party were obvious, they should not be used to obscure the racial element of the conflict that Scots were involving themselves with, the statement added.

It said: “Medieval discussions of ‘race’ were not as systemised or rigidly structured as they would become in later centuries. But recent scholarship has shown that colour prejudice existed in the medieval period add that the development of the deeply flawed racial discourse that would emerge in the early modern period had already begun. “The extent to which these broad European trends directly impacted the Scottish political community in general, and King Robert in particular, is limited somewhat by a lack of Scottish sources that discuss the issue. “However, the Scots were certainly well aware of an engaged with ideas from outwith the kingdom and were thus susceptible to this kind of thinking.” It was important that black visitors to the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre felt ‘safe and welcome’, the statement continued. “The Battle of Bannockburn was a hugely significant moment in Scottish history and is part of a heritage that black Scots have as much right to share in as anyone else. We hope that the statue of King Robert stands as a tribute to his achievement in June 1314 and as a representation of the enormous contribution he made in shaping Scotland’s history in the 14th Century and beyond.

“We are committed to promoting public engagement with his remarkable life story, both the positives and the negatives, in an open and inclusive way, as we seek to be responsive to concerns about our efforts to achieve this,” it said. The centre was “very disappointed” about the vandalism at the Bruce statue at Bannockburn at a time when the National Trust for Scotland, the conservation charity that owns the site, is facing serious financial hardship.
Wow. It's almost like the Battle of Bannockburn Experience visitor centre is accusing its own people of medieval racism for helping fellow Christians in Spain to fight against the Arab and North African Muslims who invaded the Iberian peninsula, as if the colour of those invaders featured more in the minds of Scottish warriors than supporting the liberation of their co-religionists. This statement and the graffiti on Robert the Bruce's statue is stupid on a multitude of levels.

The police bodycam has been released. Prosecutors will decide in the coming days if charges are to be pressed.

The Atlanta police officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks in the car park of a fast-food restaurant has been charged with murder and a warrant issued for his arrest. Officer Garrett Rolfe, who fired the fatal shots, faces 11 charges, including felony murder and one for aggravated assault, after video footage appeared to show him kicking Mr Brooks and standing on his shoulders as he lay dying. Fellow officer Devin Brosnan, who was also on scene and has been put on administrative leave, has been charged with three counts, including a failure to administer timely medical assistance. Paul Howard, Fulton County District Attorney, revealed in a press conference announcing the charges on Wednesday that Mr Brosnan, 26, has agreed to testify against Mr Rolfe, 27.

Mr Brooks, who is black, was shot on Friday night after staff at a Wendy’s restaurant called police when they found him sleeping in his car, blocking a drive-through lane. The 27-year-old father-of-three attempted to flee officers Rolfe and Brosnan as they tried to arrest Mr Brooks after he failed a sobriety test. Mr Brooks stole a Taser from one of the officers and attempted to fire it in their direction as he ran. He was shot twice in the back. An autopsy ruled his death as homicide. "Mr Brooks was running away at the time the shot was fired," Mr Howard told reporters. "We concluded that, at the time that Mr Brooks was shot, he did not pose an immediate threat of death or serious physical injury to the officers."

Mr Brooks’ killing reignited protests in Atlanta, Georgia, after days of worldwide demonstrations against racism and police brutality prompted by the death of George Floyd, an African American, in Minneapolis police custody on May 25. Family members, who are preparing for his funeral, say the two officers should have continued to pursue him as he ran away instead of shooting him. His widow, Tomika Miller, had called for the officers to be jailed. “If it was my husband who shot them, he would be in jail,” she said. “He would be doing a life sentence. They need to be put away.” Matt Whitaker, former Acting Attorney General, said that he finds it difficult to see how the fatal shooting of Mr Brooks was "justified." “The community of Atlanta is, obviously, going to put a lot of pressure for justice in Mr. Brooks' case,” Mr Whitaker said. “We’ve all seen the video. We’ve all seen what happened and, I think, it is hard to believe that this killing was justified given all of the video evidence that we have all seen until this point."

In a response to above, it seems that some Atlanta police officers are not responding to calls in protest.

What father of three doesn't go home to his three and prefers to sleep in a drive thru of a fast food chain?

I think there is hope for me. I might be remembered as a saint!

Was it an over-reaction to shoot the guy after taking a police officer's weapon? I genuinely don't think a white person would have been treated any different in that situation.

          Who knows.

Protesters tore down a George Washington statue and set a fire on its head

            URL:
A crowd of protesters gathered around a statue of George Washington in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday night and lit a fire on its head before pulling it to the ground.

(CNN) - A crowd of protesters gathered around a statue of George Washington in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday night and lit a fire on its head before pulling it to the ground.

Photos and video from the scene showed that the statue was spray painted with "Genocidal Colonist," "You're on native lands," "BLM" and "Big Floyd" -- presumably referring to George Floyd, who died last month at the hands of Minneapolis police.

It was also tagged with 1619, which is a reference to the year the first slaves were brought to what is now the United States.
Portland Police said the group ran off and there have been no arrests.

On Sunday, protesters pulled down a statue of Thomas Jefferson outside of a Portland high school named after the third president and spray painted "slave owner" and George Floyd's name on its base, CNN affiliate KOIN reported.

Both Washington and Jefferson owned hundreds of slaves during their lifetimes.

Police said hundreds of people held a peaceful rally on Thursday night outside Jefferson High School. Many people there told KOIN that they were ending that event early to rest up for Friday's Juneteenth celebrations commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
People around the country are reconsidering the legacies of the founding fathers and other historic figures in response to the massive Black Lives Matter protests against systematic racism and injustice.

Many cities have moved to take down statues and monuments honoring Confederate figures, and monuments to Christopher Columbus have been criticized because of the explorer's cruel treatment of indigenous people.
It's a debate that is going on worldwide. Anti-racism protesters in Britain pulled down a statue of slave trader Edward Colston and threw it in a river. Other controversial figures -- including Winston Churchill -- have been targeted. Belgium has also begun removing statues of former King Leopold II for his brutal exploitation of Africa.

Several people reported dead in multiple stabbings at BLM protests site in Reading

                  URL:

Police have arrested a man at the scene of stabbings in Reading in which three people are feared dead and two are in critical care in hospital.

A source told the Telegraph there were three individuals declared dead at the scene and two transferred to the emergency department of Royal Berkshire Hospital, where they are receiving resuscitation.

Police are holding a man in custody and officers are understood to be treating the incident as a random attack. Thames Valley Police said they were "aware of an incident" in Forbury Gardens, a public park, and are cordoning off streets in the town.

Eye-witness accounts on social media have reported paramedics and police tending to wounded people in the park.

                    New York, New York......
                    https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-york-...shooting-crime

This year, the NYPD recorded 477 shootings and 571 victims, an increase from 2019’s 345 shootings and 393 victims. From June 19 through Thursday, 49 shootings were reported, with 69 victims, compared to last year’s 20 shootings and 26 victims during the same time period, according to police......As for murders, by the time the clock struck midnight on Friday morning, there had been 141 homicides reported since the start of 2020 – 30 more than the previous year, NYPD data shows........On Wednesday, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea stressed the rise in shootings and emphasized the need for city officials to support the police department. “You have to step back and look at this. You have a criminal-justice system that is imploding,” Shea said, according to the New York Post. “Imploding. That’s the kindest way to put it.” Earlier this week, Shea told Spectrum NY1 the department reported 100 shootings in May for the first time in an estimated five years.
                    https://nypost.com/2020/06/25/bronx-...ng-in-protest/

Deputy Inspector Richard Brea is hanging it up after nearly three decades, Guardian Angels leader Curtis Sliwa told The Post on Thursday following a phone conversation with Brea, who led the Bronx’s 46th Precinct. Brea put in his papers because his bosses are not giving him enough guidance on how to get guns and drugs off the street now that the department has disbanded and reassigned its anti-crime unit, Sliwa said.....Brea also griped that the department wasn’t giving him any guidance about what his officers should do with fireworks enforcement, Sliwa said. The high-ranking cop was also incensed that the department had been caught flat-footed by looters who capitalized on police-brutality protest to wreak havoc in sections of Manhattan and Brooklyn......But the dissolution of the plainclothes anti-crime unit without guidance from on high was the last straw for Brea, who didn’t want to retire, according to Sliwa.......Police Commissioner Dermot Shea last week announced he was dissolving the unit because it was responsible for an outsize number of complaints over aggressive or unprofessional policing......The unit’s roughly 600 members were to be reassigned throughout the department, including as detectives and neighborhood coordination officers, Shea said.
Meanwhile, De Blasio, who has taken leave of his mind, has other priorities.
                    https://nypost.com/2020/06/24/de-bla...f-trump-tower/

Mayor Bill de Blasio is planning to install a massive Black Lives Matter mural right outside Trump Tower in Manhattan, The Post has learned. Plans for the mural — which will be painted in yellow block letters along Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th streets — come as the city grapples with troubling surges in gun violence and illegal firework activity. “Obviously he is doing it to antagonize the president,” a source said. “This is what he is concerned about while the city burns. What an amateur politician.”........De Blasio hatched the idea a few days after Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser had “Black Lives Matter” painted along a street leading to the White House, according to a second source. The installation is one of seven that will pop up across all five boroughs.......“The President is a disgrace to the values we cherish in New York City,” Julia Arredondo said. “He can’t run or deny the reality we are facing, and any time he wants to set foot in the place he claims is his hometown, he should be reminded Black Lives Matter.”
Law and order is crumbling in the city but let's paint some words on the asphalt to provoke the orange man.

Georgia Governor Calls Up National Guard, Declares State Of Emergency Due To Violence

                      July 6, 2020

                      URL:

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is activating up to 1,000 National Guard troops after a spate of shootings and protests in Atlanta over the weekend. Five people died, including an 8-year-old girl, and at least 30 people were injured. The Republican governor issued an executive order Monday that would send the National Guard to protect the state Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and the Department of Public Safety's headquarters, where close to 100 demonstrators set fire to part of the building early Sunday morning.

In the order, Kemp slammed Atlanta officials who "have failed to quell ongoing violence" over an especially turbulent few months that have seen the resignation of the police chief, increased sickouts of officers and two officers charged in connection with the killing of a Black man by law enforcement.

"Peaceful protests were hijacked by criminals with a dangerous, destructive agenda," Kemp said. "Now, innocent Georgians are being targeted, shot and left for dead. ... Enough with the tough talk — we must protect the lives and livelihoods of all Georgians."

The Atlanta Police Department is offering a reward in the killing of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner, who was shot Saturday night near the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was killed by a white police officer on June 12. Sunday evening, a visibly frustrated Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms decried the violence that rocked the city over the Fourth of July weekend, asking for information about a group of armed individuals who blocked the road before firing into the car and striking Secoriea. "Enough is enough," Bottoms said. "We have talked about this movement that is happening across America at this moment in time when we have the ears and the interest of people across this country and across this globe who are saying they want to see change."

Less than 24 hours later, a 53-year-old man was also killed near the Wendy's and where Secoriea died.

Bottoms, who is considered to be a contender as former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate in this year's presidential election, received praise for her earlier handling of protests following the death of George Floyd but now faces criticism for the increase in crime.

On Monday, Atlanta police erected concrete barriers around the burned-out restaurant and cleared out protesters and items left at a makeshift memorial.

After its CHAZ quasi-state was dismantled by law enforcement earlier this month, a new development is taking place in Seattle.

Majority of Seattle council pledges to support Police Department defunding plan laid out by advocates

                        July 9, 2020

A majority of Seattle City Council members now say they agree with a high-level proposal by advocates to defund the Police Department by 50% and reallocate the dollars to other community needs. Council members Lisa Herbold, Dan Strauss and Andrew Lewis added support Thursday to a road map set out by Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now. They joined colleagues Tammy Morales, Kshama Sawant, Teresa Mosqueda and M. Lorena González, who previously backed the push to reduce the Police Department’s annual budget by 50% and promised quick action, while Mayor Jenny Durkan has asked the council to slow down. That means seven of nine council members are on board with the idea, though they have yet to say exactly how they intend to make the cuts; six votes are needed to pass budget-related legislation and to override a mayoral veto. Durkan has not backed a 50% reduction. Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now are new coalitions that have emerged during the recent Black Lives Matter protests and that count a number of community organizations led by Black people as endorsers. In a presentation to the council’s budget committee Wednesday, they said the Police Department’s 2021 budget should be reduced by 50% from the status quo (its budget is $409 million this year). They also said the department’s remaining 2020 budget should be cut by 50% this summer. Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now laid out a four point proposal for defunding the Police Department:

                        - Remove Seattle’s 911 dispatchers from police control
                        - Scale up community-based solutions to public safety
                        - Fund a community-led process to “imagine life beyond policing.”
                        - Invest in affordable housing

The aim is “defunding the Seattle Police Department and building a world where we trust and believe in community to provide the safety that we need,” Decriminalize Seattle’s Jackie Vaughn said at a news conference Thursday. Morales, Sawant, Mosqueda and González joined coalition representatives and supporters for the remote news conference, pledging to advance the proposal. Herbold told The Seattle Times she also has committed to the demands, including cuts this summer and a 50% reduction to the Police Department’s budget. Strauss is in “100% agreement” with the four-point proposal and believes the council must “define how 50% cuts occur,” he wrote on Twitter. Councilmember Andrew Lewis later added on Twitter, “To be clear, I am 100% in favor of the (Decriminalize Seattle) demands, including the goal of a 50% cut of SPD’s budget.” The council is currently considering changes to the city’s 2020 budget, which has been ripped apart by the coronavirus health and economic crisis. Durkan last month proposed about $20 million in Police Department cuts as part of a broader plan to close a $378 million budget hole. Most of those cuts were identified in response to the pandemic, before the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police sparked protests across the country against violence by officers and against institutional racism in law enforcement. The council has the power to alter Durkan’s 2020 rebalancing package but must do so soon, in the coming weeks. This fall, the mayor and council will hash out 2021’s budget. In an email about the four-point proposal by Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now, Durkan spokeswoman Kelsey Nyland said, “Our office doesn’t object to any of these ideas – they are all undeniably critical to building a more just and equitable city. But each … is much more nuanced than it initially might seem, and if we don’t factor that into our discussions … then we’ll never be able to build actionable and lasting solutions.” In a letter Wednesday, Senior Deputy Mayor Mike Fong warned the council that major and immediate Police Department cuts could require large numbers of officers to be laid off, arguing the city isn’t ready for that scenario.

At Thursday’s news conference, defunding advocates said community organizations and practitioners — with adequate resources — can protect Seattle residents better than the Police Department in many instances. The speakers represented the organizations Creative Justice; Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network; Africatown Community Land Trust; East African Community Services; Black Trans Task Force; Greenlight Project; Wa Na Wari; and WA-BLOC. “We are at a very significant moment,” said Nikkita Oliver, whose nonprofit Creative Justice uses art to empower court-involved young people and resolve their cases. “Seeing the discussion of defunding the police become more than just a chant in the streets.” K. Wyking Garrett, whose Africatown organization works to combat displacement by acquiring land and developing housing in the Central District, said militarized police responses don’t solve problems. “Police don’t stop crime, they respond to crime,” he said. “What really prevents crime is access to resources.” Jaelynn Scott from the Black Trans Task Force said Black trans community needs “should be front and center” as Seattle works on community-based strategies to keep people safe. Mosqueda said she will be “following the lead of Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now” in budget talks. “History has taught us change only comes from those living on the margins rising up,” she said. González apologized for supporting police budget increases in past years, saying she no longer believes the department can be wholly reformed. “I am sorry for those votes,” she said. In his letter Wednesday, Fong said any “blunt efforts” to drastically slash the Police Department’s 2020 budget “would not serve our communities.” They instead would leave the Police Department “unable to conduct basic functions,” he said, asking the council to work with the Durkan administration over a longer period to make systemic changes. The 911 dispatchers in the Police Department already are civilian employees, rather than sworn officers, Nyland said in her email. Removing them from the Police Department would reduce the department’s budget but wouldn’t save much money for community programs, the spokeswoman noted. The mayor and council already have directed some public safety investments to community-led solutions, Nyland said, citing funds added this year to expand a program that diverts young adults from the criminal justice system, among other moves. Police Department budget cuts alone “wouldn’t make a significant dent in our housing crisis,” Nyland said. She said Durkan has proposed spending $500,000 later this year on community outreach for input on the 2021 budget.

An Oregon politician has confessed to penning a racist letter to himself after he initially claimed it was anonymously sent to him, authorities said. Jonathan Lopez, who is Latino and was a recent candidate for Umatilla County commissioner, claimed he discovered the hate-filled missive in his mailbox on June 23, the East Oregonian reported. On his now-deleted Facebook account, he shared a photo of the letter, which said that Lopez and other “Mexicans” were “not welcome here,” according to local news station KEPR-TV. “Don’t waste your time trying to become anything in this county we will make sure you never win and your family suffers along with all the other f–king Mexicans in the area!” the letter said. Lopez wrote in the post that he “holds no resentment for whomever wrote this,” the outlet reported. “I’m just simply heartbroken for the lack of knowledge, education and respect missing,” he said. “I pray for you and wish you prosperity in your life.” But when authorities followed up with Lopez about the alleged incident, he confessed to writing the letter himself. “Our investigation has shown that Mr. Lopez wrote the letter himself and made false statements to the police and on social media,” Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston told the East Oregonian. “The end result is a verbal and written admission by Mr. Lopez that the letter was fabricated.” Edmiston said the case would be forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office for review on charges for initiating a false report. “This investigation is particularly frustrating as we are in the midst of multiple major investigations while battling a resource shortage due to the current pandemic,” Edmiston told the outlet. “The time spent on this fictitious claim means time lost on other matters, not to mention it needlessly adds to the incredible tension that exists in our nation today.” Lopez — who lost a primary election for a seat on the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners in May — claimed he never intended to file a police report about the bogus letter. “I never meant to file a report, it just kind of spiraled out,” Lopez told the newspaper.

Two Texas police officers fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance

Two police officers in McAllen, Texas, were killed while answering a domestic disturbance call Saturday afternoon, according to the police chief. The officers were shot by a suspect as they approached the door of a home, McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said during a press conference Saturday evening. "The officers never had a chance to suspect a deadly assault on them, much less death, at that moment in time," a very emotional Rodriguez told reporters. Rodriguez said the police department found out the officers were shot when two other officers approached the scene to help and saw the officers were down outside the home. The officers were identified by Rodriguez as Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr., 45, and Officer Ismael Chavez, 39. Garza had been with the department close to nine years while Chavez had been on the force for about two and a half years, according to Rodriguez. When the two additional officers arrived, they ordered the suspect to drop his gun but the suspect shot and killed himself, Rodriguez said. Rodriguez identified the suspect as 23-year-old Audon Camarillo and said he had a history of prior charges including driving under the influence, fleeing from police, assault and marijuana possession. "We are weakened for the moment, but the strength and resolve we have to serve our communities, all of us here, will allow us to do what we do every day and what our officers do every day," Rodriguez said. "In the face of adversity, we rise and we serve nonetheless." McAllen is located in southern Texas along the US-Mexico border. The Texas Attorney General's office said in a tweet that they would offer any assistance requested by the police. Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted that he reached out to Rodriguez and offered his condolences and full support.

The daughter of one of two cops killed in a weekend ambush in McAllen, Texas, got slammed on Twitter — for posting the hashtag #bluelivesmatter in a moving tribute to her late dad, according to a report Sunday. Savannah Chavez, the daughter of slain Officer Ismael Chavez, 39, tweeted in a since-deleted post Saturday — the same day her father and fellow McAllen cop Edelmiro Garza, 45, were gunned down responding to a domestic disturbance — “Words cannot describe the pain I’m in, but I’m glad my dad is at peace,” Heavy.com said. “You were an amazing man and anyone who ever came across you knew that,” the daughter added. “I’m going to miss you so much. you died doing what you loved most, you died a hero. i love you daddy, see you soon. #bluelivesmatter 💙.” The posting was up long enough to garner heartfelt sympathy and tributes — and hatred, too. “Being a cop is a choice. Lmao and last time I checked, blue people don’t exist. Maybe educate yourself?” one person tweeted. Another wrote, “Blue lives matter was literally created in response to and to undermine black lives matter. There’s no other connotation unfortunately.” A third person, who identified herself as a high school student, added, “I am so sorry for your loss but you didn’t have to use a racist hashtag.”
Another example of the idiotic behaviour and cancel culture of many in the modern left of America.

A statue of Jesus Christ was decapitated and knocked off a pedestal at a Catholic church in Florida, another in a string of similar incidents nationwide. The Rev. Edivaldo da Silva, a parish priest of three years at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Southwest Miami-Dade, discovered the desecrated depiction of Christ July 15. Police are now investigating. "This incident has saddened the parish community," Good Shepherd said in a statement. "It is too soon to arrive to any conclusion, but we have seen other churches vandalized around the country. We totally 'condemn' this action. We invite our community to pray for peace." The church has hired an overnight security guard. "Archbishop Thomas Wenski is requesting this investigation be considered a hate crime," Mary Ross Agosta, director of communications for the Archdiocese of Miami told Fox News. "The statue, located outside the church, was on private and sacred property."

In a separate incident, a Catholic congregation in Ocala, several hours north of Miami, was targeted Saturday morning while preparing for Mass. Steven Anthony Shields, 24, is accused of slamming his vehicle into the church before setting it on fire. He was arrested and faces several charges, including attempted murder. Police said Shields told them he was on a mission and was opposed to the Catholic Church.

In another act of violence, the pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., found a statue of Mary decapitated on Saturday and they have not located the statue's head, Catholic News Agency reports. "We don't know if this was the targeted desecration of a sacred statue and our Catholic faith, or some kind of misguided prank, but it hurts," Jim Wogan, director of communications for the Diocese of Knoxville, said in a statement. "For whatever reason, we are living in a very chaotic time, and anger seems to be the default setting for people." Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., called it a "disturbing attack on Catholicism and religion" in a tweet Wednesday: "I hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, but I also pray that they will find their way to God as well." Statues of the Virgin Mary also were vandalized in Boston and New York City over the weekend.

A 249-year-old Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles caught fire Saturday morning. Capt. Antonio Negrete of the San Gabriel Fire Department told the local Fox 11 news outlet the recent destruction of monuments to Junipero Serra, the founder of the California mission system – whom Indigenous activists view as a symbol of oppression – will be a factor in the investigation.

Following George Floyd's police-related death in May, Black Lives Matter leaders and protesters called for the toppling of statues, from Confederate symbols to former U.S. presidents and abolitionists. Activist Shaun King called for all images depicting Jesus as a "White European" and his mother to be torn down because they're forms of "White supremacy" and "racist propaganda." Meanwhile, people on social media point out the lack of mainstream coverage of the recent anti-Catholic incidents. "Churches are being burned to the ground. What?," Mike Cernovich, a controversial right-leaning author, said in a video on Twitter. "Why is this not the biggest story of the day?" Sean Feucht, a California worship leader and pastor, commenting on the incidents asked, "Where's the outrage?"
This was only a matter of time. Pathetic animals. Another outcome of the extreme positions espoused/condoned by many from the modern American Left.
