Without trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist, I believe many of the Albanians actually boycotted, under the direction of Albanian political leaders, who didn't actively, or whatsoever, back Pendarovski's campaign.

Both DUI and SDSM have an interest in a low turnout this election and that's why I believe they have run a silent boycott campaign, and made sure there are essentially no other elections (local, parliamentary) coinciding with the Presidential election, to help make sure the turnout stays low. It's also why they've had bots trolling online egging the patriotic Macedonians to also boycott.

For SDSM, the lower the overall turnout, the lower the potential defeat, but more importantly, the more legitimate the 630k "yes" votes in the referendum appear, particulalrly given their main opposition, VMRO-DPMNE, called for massive voter turnout.

For DUI and DPA, the low turnout, for them ideally below 40% (and it may come close to that), the more likely they are to push through their agenda to again change the constitution, so that the President is elected by the Parliament. This was one of their Tirana platform demands and an idea they have publicly called for. It means with balkan political horse trading, they can get a President, which is one of their goals.

Someone correct if I'm wrong, but the "turnout" in Albanian areas appears to be shockingly low - so far. Is this "poor turnout", or ... ?

Државната изборна комисија соопшти дека излезеноста на првиот круг од претседателските избори изнесува 28,89 отсто. Претседателот на ДИК Оливер Дерковски на прес-конференција рече дека од околу 75 отсто обработени гласачи места, до 15 часот излегле да гласаат 396.252 избирачи.

Најголема излезност, исто како и до 13 часот, има во Прилеп – 43,85%, a најмала во Липково – 9,75%.

Во Центар излезеноста изнесува 38,65 проценти, што е најголема излезеност во скопските општини, а најмала е излезноста во Чаир со 17,2 проценти.

Во Аеродром, излезноста е 35,45%, понатаму Арачиново 14,75%, Берово 34,75%, Битола 32,81%, Боговиње 12,12%, Бутел 29,24%, Велес 32,11%, Гевгелија 39,26%, Ѓорче Петров 33,3%, Делчево 37,69%, Долнени 16,75%, Илинден 29,18%, Кисела Вода 34,99%, Карпош 37,69%, Кавадарци 39,01%, Македонски Брод 42,22%, Охрид 36,77%, Ново Село 37,71% ...

Дерковски нагласи дека нема посериозни нарушувања на изборниот процес.

Додаде дека се пристигнати 8 нови приговори за гласачкото право, за што ќе заседаваат и ќе одлучуваат во ДИК. Но, тоа не се приговори од суштинска природа што го нарушуваат изборниот процес, рече претседателот на ДИК кој на крајот изрази надеж дека изборниот процес ќе заврши мирно како и до 15 часот.

Покрај за претседател денеска во општините Охрид, Ново Село и Дебар се гласа и за избор на нов градоначалник.

Гласачките места се отворени до 19 часот. Право на глас имаат 1.808.131 избирач.

До 15 часот, Тетово со 19,83, а Желино 10,06 отсто излезеност

Најмалку излезеност има во општините Боговиње и Желино. Во Боговиње од 27.501 гласачи гласале само 12,12 отсто, а во Желино 10,06 отсто од граѓаните запишани во избирачкиот список.

Од досега пристигнати 79 проценти од избирачки места во македонија. утврдено е дек гласале 35,13 проценти од гласачите.

Доколку се обработни 100 проценти од избирачките места, проектирано е дека излезноста на гласачите до 17 часот би била околу 600.000 гласачи

57, 82 проценти гласале во Крива Паланка, во Демир Хисар 51, проценти, Крушево 50 проценти.

Прилеп излезноста е 50 проценти, Вевчани исто така.

Најмалку гласачи излегле во населените место каде претежно живеат Албанци. Во Липково гласале 13 проценти, исто Желино, а во Пласница најмалку 12 проценти.

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski addressed Monday’s rally in Kicevo.

Mickoski told Kicevo citizens that on April 21, VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, professor Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, will win, which will be confirmed on May 5, and then VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition that is with the people will win in early parliamentary elections.

Mickoski asked what SDSM did for Macedonia and pointed out that they should seek an apology from Kicevo citizens, citizens of the Republic of Macedonia for all the injustices they have inflicted.

He noted that SDSM has a problem with itself, while citizens have a problem with them, a problem that will soon be solved on April 21 and May 5.

Gaffe prone Siljanovska says voters can trust her not to make strategic mistakes, like her opponent does

For a second time in the campaign, opposition candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova made a gaffe confusing the city she is in. The first time was especially grating, given that she confused Negotino with Kavadarci – the two cities are bitter regional rivals.

In response, she wrote that gaffes happen, but the citizens can trust her not to make strategic blunders, such as the Prespa treaty.

I make mistakes and I apologize when I do. But we are dealing with people who trampled their word, who trample morality and the law. Not only they don’t apologize, but they demand that WE apologize for their mistakes. The Macedonian people will never forgive them for their “gaffes” and “blunders” – what they did to the Constitution, the laws and the Prespa treaty, Siljanovska said via Facebook.

Commentators and journalist from the ruling SDSM – DUI coalition have initially mocked Siljanovska for her age and gender, as well as for her appearance and style. They attempted to describe her son as a bum and have also mocked the opposition candidate for her practice of yoga and being a vegetarian.

I think Pendarovski is out of his depth.

While there is a general deficit of vision in Macedonia, to some extent both Blerim and Gordana are talking about how things could or should be, while Pendarovski can't think beyond how they are.

It's politicians like Pendarovski that hold Macedonia back. Today he said it is really important we join the EU, because we'll get €900M from the EU. I think that is quite telling.

He's not even talking about fixing, improving or reforming the country.

He's not saying things like, the reforms necessary to join the EU are more important than the EU membership itself, improving the way we self-Govern and thus the internal stability and thus the economic stability and growth.

Instead he's saying the EU will give us €900M we just need to, very superficially, sign some laws and give up some things to get in - he's saying to the people, hard work is not important, sell what you have (name, identity) and do what you can superficially, scam your way in, because there's a pot of gold waiting. The handful backers pulling the strings and already establishing the NGOs and businesses to receive EU funds will of course will pocket all of that, which is why the EU is actually so important to them and why the Macedonian people will be poor even in the EU.

So it is exactly politicians like Pendarovski that keep Macedonia back from doing what it actually needs to do, real things of substance, to set itself right. He is the politician of no substance, no vision, no capability and the example of what will keep the Macedonian people and the Macedonian state both weak and poor.

Yesterday was apparently the deadline for signatures collection for the presidential candidates. So far the necessary 10,000 signatures have been collected by Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Stevo Pendarovski and Blerim Reka. Other independent candidates are finding it difficult to collect enough signatures. For example, according to the State Election Commission, the candidate Filip Petrovski collected 1,375 signatures by March 7.

Вчера заврши рокот за собирање на потписи за кандидатите за претседател на државата. Досега потребните 10.000 потписи ги собрале Гордана Силчјановска - Давкова, Стево Пендаровски и Блерим Река. На останатите независни кандидати, кои ја немаат поддршката од некоја од поголемите партии, многу тешко им оди со собирањето потписи.

Според Државната изборна комисија, до 7 март најмногу потписи собрал кандидатот Филип Петровски - 1.375, Димче Петровски собрал 537, Јосив Мирчевски 12, Господин Попоски 29.

Рокот за доставување на кандидатурите е 21 март.

Изборната кампања почнува на 1 април, а првиот круг на гласање е на 21 април.

Here is the most recent debate between Filip Petrovski and Stojance Angelov from a few days ago. Again, Petrovski does well in this debate. It was interesting to note that Angelov appeared to believe that Petrovski would get the required 10,000 signatures and even acknowledged his principled stance, despite disagreeing with him. Petrovski also indicated that he sees those calling for a boycott as patriots and is trying to work with them in what seems to be an attempt to get them to change their position.
