    The Blue-Macedonian Flag

Does anyone know when it was first in use? With a source for confirmation, not rumours.

I'll explain why i'm curious to know in a little bit.

Apparently It was designated as an official national symbol by the Greeks after February 1993.

Or at least as a flag for its occupied northern part. I know that the police have a badge with the greek flag and the sun on it. I will try to find it.
Стравот на Атина од овој Македонец одел до таму што го нарекле „Страшниот Чакаларов“ „гркоубиец“ и „крвожеден комитаџија“.

I think the greeks have used the blue flag recrntly.

Reason for the discussion, was because my friend and I were talking about this certain flag. He brought up that he was confused to how similar the design was; as the only different thing was the background color. He explained to me he doesn’t see it realistic that the Macedonians simply ‘stripped’ the exact same flag. I remember a while back looking at Wikipedia it showed the flag was established in 1993 (1 year after it was established as our flag in 1992), and now when I search it up it says its use was established in the late 1900’s in Greece for their Macedonian region. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter at all who used it first, but it is annoying how they are trying to shape peoples opinions and views through small things like these.

VMRO thanks for confirming that what I saw was true, that it was established in Greece for their Macedonian region in 1993. In terms of a 'national' symbol, I was not aware of this, I would have assumed it would have only been of recent in that case.

lavce pelagonski would really appreciate if you could find it, but i'll also try myself.

They will do absolutely anything to spread their lies to the world. Just look at the way literally every single Macedonian video on the internet is full of Greek comments. They are so obnoxious, repetitive and deluded with their views, however majority of the world would rather listen to them over us. I suppose they just cant see them for what they really are... yet.

eventually the world will cotton all as to what is going on.In the end the greeks will lose all respect. If they had any respect they should have a reality check in the mirror.

                Correct

The Wikipedia page i'm reading it off is from where they wrote late 1980's:

                The reference to the statement:

                <ref name="Flag Encyclopedia">{{cite book |last= Znamierowski |first= Alfred |title=The World Encyclopedia of Flags |publisher= Anness Publishings |year= 2010 |isbn= 978-1-84476-895-0}}</ref>

I'm trying to find the PDF version of this, I don't think it's worth buying for such a small thing, but i'm really curious to see if it was a bullshit call and not even written in that Encyclopedia. I may buy it in my next batch of books I buy from Booktopia though considering it's only $25 but that may be a while away as I only recently purchased from them.

Hmmm the 1980`s hey? I remember a thread on this forum ( which I cant find) where a couple of members were talking about the way they remembered the Greeks burning the Macedonian flag with the sonce on it during the National Soccer League days of the 70`s and 80`s. How times have changed ?

Oh, I thought you were talking about Greece, I didn't realise it was about Australia. This is ALSO hard to believe but I don't know anything about Australia.
Which is the oldest proof you have that someone (anyone) adopted this symbol?

I see, does this really imply they didn't have the blue-variant of the flag though?

Not too sure, perhaps another forum member can shed some more light on this if possible.

Think how they acquired the sun symbol.Only because it fell into greek territory. In ROM the sun symbol is everywhere. It was a tactic to trick the macedonians and then register the symbol and have a monopoly over it so that they can be the only ones to use it.The same is with the name.\I never heard a blue color used in their flag only greeks use it.It is from their flag.(Even that is stolen from the east india trading company).Thieves and gypsies would be a right description.
