Here are the wiki articles on Muhammad Ali Pasha of Egypt, and Ibrahim Pasha, his adopted son. It appears that both were born as Muslims in Macedonia, although I would like to delve a little more into their origins, as they may turn out to be cases similar to Mustafa Kemal - Ataturk, ie; of part Macedonian, part Turkish (or Albanian) descent.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_of_Egypt

Muhammad Ali Pasha al-Mas'ud ibn Agha (Arabic: محمد علي باشا‎),Mehmet Ali Pasha in Albanian or Muhammed Ali Paša in Bosnian or Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa in Turkish, [2] was born 4 March in 1769 in Kavala in the Ottoman territory of Macedonia (now in Greece), and died at Alexandria August 2, 1849, was Wāli of Egypt and Sudan, and is regarded as the "founder of modern Egypt".
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibrahim_Pasha_of_Egypt

Ibrahim Pasha (Arabic: إبراهيم باشا‎) (Albanian: Ibrahim Pasha) ‎ (1789 – November 10, 1848), a 19th century general of Egypt. He is better known as the son of Muhammad Ali of Egypt. Ibrahim served as Regent for his father from July to November 10, 1848.

Ibrahim was born in the town of Drama, in the Ottoman province of Rumelia, currently located in the Macedonian region to albanian. His mother succeeded in marrying Muhammad Ali, who immeditely adopted her child as his own son giving him the name of Ibrahim and bringing him up in both Ottoman culture and Muslim faith.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

Thanks Osiris. I often wondered what it would have been like if Macedonia would have established its independence first as well.
