The soldiers that the user posted in the pics above (doing the eagle with fingers) were imprisoned for 2 months. I think.

So he just proved your point.
My point has not been proven. Show me a picture of a market place in Athens or Solun for example, where only Albanian flags are being sold, then we'll talk.

Gocka 04-20-2017 06:41 AM

At what point and at what quantity is it alarming and how do you stamp out the lawful selling of what is a piece of cloth with an ugly bird on it? Do you also stamp out the selling of football team flags, or flags of other random countries? What do you hope to gain by stamping it out? By denying Albanians access to Albanian flags what does that change about Albanian ambitions other than make them stronger?

Its what they do with them that matters. It should be illegal to fly the flag of a FOREIGN country at government buildings. It should be illegal to fly a FOREIGN flag anywhere with out the presence of the domestic flag. It should be illegal to take down the domestic flag and replace it with a FOREIGN one. The reason that i emphasize foreign is because the real problem is that Albanians do not comprehend that the Albanian flag is the flag of a FOREIGN country, that is a real territory with real army and government. Replacing a domestic flag with a foreign one amounts to an act of treason.

Another question that we ought to be ask is: Why do Albanians in Macedonia have such respect for a foreign flag, while Macedonians are to stupid or too scared to fly their REAL flag? Maybe if Macedonians had the same regard for their own REAL flag and actually had a sense of national pride, then maybe that would counteract Albanization.

Pretending like we could or even whether its okay to somehow stop Albanians from being Albanian is just plain stupid.

They are not the problem, they were never the problem. Macedonians are the problem, our lack of tenacity and ability to run a country the size of a city give way for Albanians to act the way they do.
The pictures in the market place are not a silly or irrelevant issue to discuss. People can hold up, buy and sell their own national flags, naturally.

The thing that makes this relevant is a question of degree. The amount of Albanian flags being sold and displayed in Macedonia is alarming.

It needs to be stamped out.:nono:
Gocka, I agree that the problem starts at the top. Flying a foreign flag in government buildings should be illegal but it is tolerated in a Macedonian Parliament.

My issue is the dysfunctional behaviour in the government filters through to the behaviour of the common person.

I am merely expressing my discontent at the idea of walking through a town or village only to be greeted by a sea of red Albanian flags. It would make me check if I was in the right country.

If that doesn't affect you, then you are better than me for it.

Gocka 04-20-2017 05:03 PM

Doesn't affect me lol are you kidding? My wife is from Struga, I refuse to go to her parents house because it make my blood boil walking through Struga.

I think you misunderstand. We should be outraged about walking through a village and seeing nothing but Albanian flags, but punishing some shiptar at the market for selling them amounts to nothing.

Our anger needs to be directed at our leaders and ourselves for not creating and supporting a strong national sentiment. Like I said, how can I get made at an Albanian for being proud of their heritage while my own ilk is too stupid to know that the ventilator is not a Macedonian flag. Maybe if Macedonians were better at actually being Macedonians, then Albanians might not be such a factor.

I think we are on the same page with all this. My auntie is from Struga. I visited there a couple of times. I had a run in with their neighbour who was a Shiptar. I can see your angst about going there.

New mosques (and Albanian flags) with extra tall minarets to be seeen from all directions in the Prilep region, built during the DPMNE administration. It's funny how thousands of Macedonians from Prilep came out to protest against Zaev and the Tirana Platform, but they completely IGNORED this...

Albanian mayor arrested in Macedonia vote-fraud probe
By Associated Press September 27
SKOPJE, Macedonia — Authorities in Macedonia have arrested and detained the mayor of a small town in neighboring Albania on suspicion of vote fraud during Macedonia’s local government elections in 2013.

The arrest Wednesday was the latest move in a crackdown under the country’s four-month-old Socialist government against senior officials and their allies in previous conservative administrations for alleged corruption.

A special prosecutor charged Edmond Temelko, mayor of the small border town of Pustec, on suspicion of organizing the transfer of several hundred Albanians allegedly supplied with false identity cards to vote in Macedonia.

At a court appearance, Temelko denied the allegations.
