Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC)

The establishment and development of the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) closely followed the transitional changes in Macedonia.

The story of the establishment and development of MCIC is both inspirational and impressive. MCIC was established in 1993, upon domestic initiatives with support from the Dutch Interchurch Aid (DIA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC). The establishment came in response to the problems arising from Yugoslavia’s break-up, heralding a sign of solidarity in the efforts for peaceful resolution of the problems, fostering of good neighborly relations and cooperation among all people living in Macedonia and promotion of peaceful and fair solutions for the existing differences in the region, in a hope that this is possible.

MCIC has grown into independent, civil, not-for-profit organization, ready to face the challenges and to create models or alternatives for problem resolution. The results achieved in the past fifteen years are considered as successful. This success has been already recognized with numerous acknowledgements. MCIC is a role model in Macedonia and Eastern Europe.

Since its establishment, MCIC has implemented more than 1,300 projects, as part of 60 programs, amounting to over 45 million euro, in the following sectors: water supply and sanitation, rural development, health and education, employment and civil society, democratization, trust, immediate aid and activities on Balkans.

MCIC has supported the development of rural communities, by strengthening their capacity for resolving their own problems. As a result now 250 villages have access to drinking water. Karbinci, Dolneni, Staro Nagoricani, Saraj and others are leaders among the rural municipalities, thanks to the focused and yearlong support by MCIC.

Through the activities in the health and education sector, the focus was placed on capacity building and inclusion of marginalized groups (women, Roma, people with special needs) in the mainstreams. The greatest achievement is the establishment of a model for improving the education of young Roma. The development of these programs has evolved in treating the issues of marginalization and discrimination, also on the highest level in the legislation and the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, through the lobby groups such as the Macedonian Women Lobby, IPPLG for people with special groups and the Roma lobby group.

After the initial experience with the loan-based development, in 1998 MCIC has established the Macedonian Enterprise Development Foundation (MEDF), focused on development of small enterprises, by providing access to financial and non-financial services. So far, MEDF has supported over 3,500 entrepreneurs by providing loans, but MEDF has also a wide range of non-financial services for the users.

During the conflicts in Kosovo (1999) and Macedonia (2001), MCIC has taken the role of “breaking the ice and filling the gap” (Mokoro, 2002) and mobilized the civil society in providing humanitarian response in the crisis. This period has directed MCIC to post-conflict activities and confidence building as well as activities outside of Macedonia. MCIC started direct activities in confidence building among the different communities and groups (ethnic and religious communities, media, former combatants etc.). With the activities in Kosovo since 1999, MCIC showed “uniqueness of its own positive example for possible cooperation among people from different ethnic and religious background in the Balkan context” (ACT, 2002). The regional cooperation peaked with the establishment of the Balkan Civil Society Development Network.

The basis of all MCIC activities is development of civil society and active citizenship. MCIC started with capacity building of the activists (over 2,000 people trained) and organizations (support to over 200), by supporting the development of strategic organization, surveys and support for the institutional development of civil society. MCIC contributed for development of new legal frameworks for civil society, as well as the adoption of the Strategy of the Government for cooperation with the civil society sector 2007 – 2011. This activity has culminated with the NGO Fair and the establishment of the Civic Platform of Macedonia in 2004.

MCIC is a member of UN ECOSOC, ACT and CIVICUS, as well as the above mentioned networks and platforms.

MCIC is recognized through the slogans that identified the activities from the initial “Help for Self-Help” through “Whole is when there is all”, “However” and “Don’t you FYROM me” to the “I live here” and “One next to Another”.

From the time when “the young organization MCIC played a pioneering role in the fast changing Macedonian society” and “MCIC should play the role of facilitator” (MDF, 1997) through “MCIC, directly and indirectly is having positive influence on individual, communal and societal level by developing role models and models that affect the other actors in the society” (FAKT, 2000), MCIC has became one of the leading civil society organizations in Macedonia and the Balkans.

MCIC’s success is based on values. MCIC is unique platform of dialogue and cooperation of different interest groups in Macedonia, which find their own space in MCIC. MCIC is a place “of values, such as tolerance, difference, voluntary action, cooperation and peace” (INTRAC, 2002).

MCIC has won the US and EU Award for Civil Society and Democracy in 1998, Mother Theresa Award in 2004 and many municipal and local recognitions.
Anyone have anything to say about this organisation?

As with just about all of the well-funded NGO's in Macedonia, Soros' Open Society Institute is involved. This one in fact seems like one of its' tentacles.

The Managing Director of the MCIC, Saso Klekovski, is a former Board Member of the Open Society Institute in Macedonia.

That said, I'm sure that despite that, there have been a number of humanitarian projects they may have been involved in, or spearheaded, that are praise-worthy.

If these guys are the ones behind "Don't you FYROM Me" they do not have Macedonia's best interest in mind. I recently spoke to an ex-employee and Rogi is correct in the assessment that Soros is behind it.

Is it not time that Macedonian's start looking after their own and stop with these so-called NGO's?

Primitive Propaganda War against the country

Here Rosseta.........now you can sleep well.

Pascali: Primitive Propaganda War against the country...

The US analyst Umberto Pascali in an interview with PORTA, a program on the Macedonian TV (MTV) commenting the latest developments in Macedonia concerning the organised protests for the death of Martin Neskoski, assessed that it is propaganda war and people are being used as cannon fodder.

              - I would address the Macedonian young to follow their thirst, their passion for truth and to make research by themselves and to discover who is hiding behind this obvious operation, Pascali said.

The US analyst and expert on developments in the Balkan region including Macedonia, explains how such operation as war of information is being conducted.

              - The biggest organs of western powers are being used from the British Economist to different branches of Soros (financial power), to Anglo-American intelligence (Voice of America) and main Internet controllers (Google). As in many colored revolutions, the scenario is very simple and very primitive. The goal, the Prime Minister, who has recently won the elections, to be presented as 'evil' and people as 'oppressed' who are protesting, Pascali said adding all of the opposition media in Macedonia is currently financed by Soros.

A perfect example is the three pro-opposition (nameless) articles that appeared in the Economist in the last four months. All three were sent out from the Soros offices in Skopje.

According to him the protesters are being taught to use tactics of uniting in groups via Internet, Twitter, Facebook and support of the large media financed by financially powerful persons. The murder of the young boy during the celebration of election victory of VMRO-DPMNE is only an introduction, Pascali explained.

Answering the question what are the causes of such protests, Pascali says – successful politics of PM Gruevski and President Ivanov in enlargement of sovereignty and independence of Macedonia. Macedonia is, Pascali said, friend to all not a slave to certain power. Macedonia builds good contacts not only with Western powers but also with Russia, China and Turkey.

PM Gruevski implement politics of active diplomacy and economic exchange and trade with every country interested in this. For example energy policy for South Stream, the Corridor 8. The independence and the sovereignty are the most important capital, which Macedonia must defend but someone does not want independent Macedonia, which does not have other owners and chiefs, Pascali added.

              Facebook takes action

Earlier this morning, Facebook had shutdown numerous Facebook groups initiated by the opposition (SDSM) where it instructed its membership to protest. The very same groups who were protesting against the Government few months ago, are now using Neskoski's death to once again promote their agenda. //Marina Velkovska
              http://macedoniaonline.eu/content/view/18372/45/
SDSM would have to be the biggest danger to Macedonia.

By the way, This first began when SDSM called for demonstrations after claiming the late Martin Neskoski, was a SDSM supporter, only to be proven wrong and that they were lying, when in fact Mr Neskoski was a VMRO supporter.

SDSM are clearly trying to destabilise the country. The culprit to this latest incident has been arrested and will be on trial. So what is all the protest realy about?

Without cooperation from within, Soros could blow his whole nut in Macedonia and nothing at all would ever come of it.

This issue is about far more than political partisanship or old fashioned featherbedding. It's about the survival of a nation.

Macedonia needs to continue to build economic bridges and not put it's eggs into any one basket.

We are alone in this. There is no cavalry.

i doubt if exit is the right thing to do at the moment as it will leave the others holding the bag so to speak.Soros doesn't know what he is talking about unless he can put hisdirty mits in it & make more out of the crisis.I'm sure he wants to bail out countries for a price.

Apparently Milchin is trying claim that he isn't a traitor.

In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

Soros-bot Dimova spits on Macedonia ... in Brussels

Government officials are scratching their heads how did Lidija Dimova end up representing Macedonia in Brussels.

Dimova, employed at NGO Open Institute Society financed by George Soros and close friend of SDSM's Radmila Sekerinska claimed the EU should put an end to all IPA funds and any other financial form of support because Macedonia does not have a national program to use these funds.

Dimova supported her misleading and negative statements with an explanation that there will be elections next year.

Contrary to her statements, the Macedonian Embassy in Brussels had already provided officials with documentation which showcased how 100% of the IPA funds have been used in that joint programs have been established between Macedonian border cities with towns in Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia.

During Dimova's speech, Macedonian embassy personnel, delegates from Montenegro, Turkey, Croatia and others were stunned by her angry speech. It's not often you see someone misrepresenting their own country, attacking it using political language...

The biggest scandal of it all was not the fact Dimova stated absurd lies against her own country. SDSM members publicly state their allegiance to the party, not the country as we've seen once again today. The question remains of the Government's oversight. The Macedonian Embassy in Brussels is asking who sent Lidija Dimova to Brussels, and most importantly why?

Lidija Dimova represented Macedonia as a member of a Soros funded NGO. She has nothing to do with IPA funds nor does she have any knowledge on EU funds in general. The rest of the nations were represented by competent economists and experts on IPA funds.

                          This is treason!!
What will be the consequences for her???
