There is reference made to Macedonian 'Bulgars', unless this is in relation to the Macedonians under the Exarchate, I find the author of the article ignorant somewhat.

Not sure SoM, it seems to be talking about Macedonians who took refuge in Bulgaria.
So perhaps it means Macedonians in Bulgaria.

And their name is "Macedonian Voivode, Babajan". It`s Turkish word "Babacan" meaning fatherly, good-natured!!!

I would say that many Macedonians had these sort of nicknames during the Ottoman era.
