Agamoi at least hitler recognized the macedonians.Whereas the greeks do not recognize macedonians at all the wusses are scared because in 1913 they took their land occupied they call it leberate.Did they ask the macedonian people no they didn't they took it by force. The greeks are worse than nazis as no one in history has done what the greeks have done to the macedonians. We don't need to remind you you should be aware or you are so dumb that we have to remind you of the attrocities commiteed.Agamoi the bullshit spread by the greeks ever since they occupied macedonia is nothing short of insulting. They went to the extent of denial, not allowing macedonians to speak macedonian, changed toponyms.Any macedonian wanting a job would have to change their name from macedonian to greek. If anyone was caught talking macedonian they had to go to prison or drink castor oil.So your so called fake greeks haven't got anything to be proud. Then to make matters worse after the finds of andronocolous philip II tomb
the greeks renamred the occupied province of greece to macedonia after 1978 in expectation of ROM gaining independence.THe greek fakes were saying that macedonia is greece.ETC All of it lies & more lies.So agamoi you have to understand what the word propaganda is looks like you don't.

Both are alive in the memory of the people. The memory of Alexander the Great seems to be instilled in more people, because often those who pronounced his name, could not otherwise explain who he was, than refering to books that the teachers have.

That means people spoke of Alexander not because it was a firmly rooted tradition. They only knew about Alexander because they heard some teachers talking about him.The only schools he mentions in his trip though are mainly Greek schools and few Bulgarian. So people in Macedonia and Bulgaria in 19th century knew about Alexander because they were taught his history in Greek schools.
It would be more accurate to say that the overwhelming majority of people in what became Greece only knew about the ancient Hellenes after British and German philhellenes taught them. The Albanian locals of the area clearly couldn't care much when the British were taking all of the archaeological items.

To suggest that the Macedonians didn't know who Alexander was prior to the 19th century is moronic, at the very least.

I heard stories that Skanderbeg was Greek but many Albanians turn wild when hearing this.
Skenderbeg was Macedonian, Gjorgjija Kastriot, he'd be rolling in his grave now with all the stories going around that he was Albanian.

Hellenising anything not greek is nothing new that can be from a name change to greek or just plain stealing macedonian songs from the internet & the adapting them to greek. The greeks have been falsifying their history on macedonia for years paying newspaper journalists money & also professors at universities money to say greek propaganda. To whole revision of texts etc to show macedonia was greek
.In contrast certain parts of ohrid old people have got songs about alexander which are very old & passed from father to son, people still carry on with their traditions.A song sung was tsar alexander .

not the real place to develope such subject, but why not to mention it...

not only in Ohrid, stories about Aleksandar are kept and told all across Macedonia.

the most used way to speak about him is "caro nash Aleksandar" or "caro nash Aleksandro" , or even "Ace nash".

they use "our" / "ours" (nash, nashio)

to remind you, that "nashki" or "nash" is used to describe the Macedonian Language across Macedonia, Egejska included
