Julie, for me there is something special about this song. It brings back some of my earliest childhood when i was knee high. I clearly remember my mom playing this on the old 45 Way before Ipod was around lol. I only knew the corous "Makedonka majka mi rodi" untill today. Now for the first time in my life, i've learn't the true meaning of this song after reading the lyrics.

I remember singing it as a small girl and my mother telling me it was about the captured niece of Gotse Delchev, how they tortured her and she did not give him up, they dismembered her alive, and removed her eyes, horrible death.

Kletva is a curse, in this song, its more along the lines of my you follow through what i ask of you.

As wonderful as it is to have Turkey as Macedonia's ally now, they did some horrible things, and someone previously suggesting we change our folk songs lyrics, I am against that.
We have passed our history down through our songs, music and dance.
