I've heard that story about the Sasa, originally Saxon miners, although wikipedia info is very limited on it.

Apparently there were Saxons in Serbia and Bulgaria too.

Hi Thorvald, welcome on the Forum.

I just read aobut the Saxons so wanted to ask you if you know something more on it.

I have found this long time ago and don't know what to think of it, but maybe you can figure more out:

Quote:
That the Saxons were some Remains of the Macedonian Army; and that before they came into Germany, they
were called Macedonians ; for this he quotes the German Chronicle, printed at Mentz, in 1482. the Annals of Freezland, and
others.

Source
Quote:
The originall and Etymologie of the Saxons, like as of other nations, not onely Monkes ignorant, as they were, in learned antiquitie, but also latter Writers, being men of some exact and exquisite judgment, have enwrapped with forged and fained fables. Some derive them and their name from Saxo, the sonne of Negnon and brother of Vandalus, others of their stonie nature, some from the remaines of the Macedonian armie, others of certain knives, whereupon was made that ryme in Engelhusius:

For sax with them and Short-sword is the same,
From whence it’ s though the Saxon tooke his name.

Source

I don't want to prove here anything but rather ask you if you have more on this? If you can share your thoughts on it, I would apreciate it.

Default Macedonians noted as good track laborers, 1916!

Title page.

Page 5, table of contents.

Page 10, foreword.

Page 63.

Source: "Practical Track Maintenance" by Kenneth L. Van Auken, pages 5, 10, 63. First published in 1916, second edition 1921.

Again Macedonians are noted, Tito must have been a very crafty man when he decided to create us.

Greeks, Bulgars and Serbs what is your take on this information?

Macedonian propaganda maybe?

my great grandfather and one of his sons worked on the railways for a short while. i notice they not only identify people as macedonians but also distinguish them from the bugari. this is a great find well done brate.
