The police are now knocking on people's doors late at night for things posted on social media that they don't agree with and question you if you attended a protest from 6 months ago. That is, a protest that they have deemed to be "unlawful" and contrary to the Public Health Order in their eyes. If you attended the protest just 2 weeks earlier, in solidarity with the BLM movement, then all good. It's science everyone. Covid 19 is a highly evolved and intelligent virus. It knows which demonstrations to infect and which not to infect. Don't question the science!

I used to think Australians wouldn't put up with the notion of "booster" shots. But nowadays they talk about about vaccines and think still being able to catch and transmit diseases after vaccinations is normal. I cannot believe how gullible the general population is.

Maybe, most of us don't like to think so if there is no serious opposition to an idea then we go with the flow.

People are singing the praises of NT Chief Minister's (Gunner) response to Ted Cruz - Texas. People are very happy about other's being forced to be vaccinated. As a bonus in the NT not getting vaccinated may get you a fine too.

COVID19 vs. Flu: Covid is way more infectious, way more deadly and most importantly, no one has resistance to it being a new virus. Hence, within less than 2 years, Covid has caused a minimum of 5M deaths..

Because covid is new, therefore, we first need to develop an acceptable level of herd immunity before going back to normal. This can happen through immunization, which will protect most people and especially the vulnerable, or it can happen naturally, by letting the virus blaze through the community (and kill our old parents and grandparents plus any vulnerable youth in the process).

I think there should be a difference handling people who won't vs., people who medically can't take the vaccine. But still, some limitations, must apply to protect the community.

We still need masks until we reach an acceptable level of herd immunity even if double vaccinated. The vaccine is not a guarantee one cannot catch and transmit covid, but it definitely lessens the risk. It is really about probability.

If people are sick and dying, the economy will drop even more. The economy is made of people willing/capable to trade.

We have all been making sacrifices over the past two years. The selfishness, in my opinion, comes solely from the so called freedom/libertarian block. Especially, those who actually accept vaccines but want to use this opportunity to play the sovereign citizen act. Personally, I have more respect for antivaccers. They are at least in their heads convinced that they protect their health.

Definitely happy with how NZ has fared so far! Especially when compared to the world. It could have been better of course, for instance, they should have started vaccination much earlier!
