Rogi, Australia has Greece and Bulgaria leaning on its side so what has Australia got to gain by recognizing us?? One vote means nothing for Australia, if we vote for them and Australia recognizes us then Greece wont vote for them and Cyprus wont either so whats the difference??

Lets face it, We are a small fish in a big pond i agree with UMD that our relations need to be stronger however at the end of the day whats in it for Australia?? Surly being in their shoes they wont risk ruining their relations with Greece which are very good just to recognize us and get pretty much nothing in return maybe a nice thank you and thats about it.

Why did U.S. and Canada recognize Macedonia? Did they ruin their relations with Australia?

Australian-Macedonians need to get more active and push for Australia to recognize Macedonia as Republic of Macedonia. We need more action, and less talk on forums. Don't attack UMD for pushing the Australian government to recognize Macedonia.

UMD, Only an absolute idiot would attack UMD for pushing the Australian Government to Recognize Macedonia, it would be our ultimate goal believe me but if you ever come to Australia and go around Melbourne and Sydney by far the two biggest cities in Australia you will feel the full force of the Greek Lobby. They Finance the biggest political parties Labor and Liberal, they spend alot of money to lobby this is why Australia is the only country in the world to recognize us as Slav Macedonians.

Look at it from an Australian point of view, whats in it for them if they recognize us?? Bofore Nikola Gruevski arrived in Australia a good two months in advance the Greeks were already pushing the panic button while we didnt even know how to greet him.

We need to strengthen our relations with Australia this is a must, however it needs to be done the right way and something needs to be done for Australia in order for them to recognize us. There is an old Aussie saying, Theres no such thing as a free lunch so i commend the UMD for at least considering to find a way to reach out to Australia as this is a major step however expect some major reactions from the Greek Lobby thats all im saying in other words prepare to get your hands dirty.

As for Canada and USA recognizing our name, well Rogi suggested that we swap our vote for name recognition which doesnt really make alot of sense since the Greeks will Already back Australia and expect Cyprus to aswell not to mention Bulgaria so thats 3 countries to one, our vote to Australia for the security council will be nothing more then a bonus its not going to have alot of value its one of those votes where you would want to have however if you dont get it there is no sweat over it..

George W Bush and company recognized Macedonia as a result of you being an " ally against terror "

Not to mention Camp Bondsteel and the then Neo-Con policy of rewarding nations that went along with " war against terror ". Which btw happened to be the worst administration of the US in decades. The Neo-Cons failed miserably and put the US in a complete decline.
